No More Lies is the penultimate story from the first season of new EDA's and comprises of one 50 minute audio.

What links a disintegrating spaceship to a posh garden party, where a wealthy couple are celebrating their love for each other in style? Gatecrashers the Doctor and Lucie think they know the answer. But they're not the only uninvited guests - ferocious alien warriors riding pterodactyl-like Vortisaurs are about to make their entrance!

So this one starts off with the Doctor and Lucie in the trail of a criminal time traveller called Nick. They track him down to a broken down ship in the middle of the time vortex where he is planning to sell his knowledge of time travel technology to other races who pay the highest. The chase continues after an encounter with some aliens which I cant remember the name of (though coincidently they appeared in Storm Warning which Chris reviewed this week) and they eventually manage to find him hiding out in a garden party but when they find him, he has aged by 30 years. The Doctor concludes (a little too easily) that they must be in a time loop and when they eventually manage to speak to Nick they find he is now married and settled down into family life with no further dealing in crime. The Doctor tries to convince Nick that the time loop needs to be closed in order to stop the aliens from running riot in the universe, but he claims he cannot as being in the time loop is the only thing keeping his wife from dying. The aliens manage to get in and Nick agrees to close the loop but the cost of it means that his wife dies and just before the Doctor can leave, Lucie is kidnapped...

Now, I have been leaving it out of the other reviews, but at the end of each story is usually a little scene with a character called The Headhunter. She has been empolyed to track down and take Lucie. She doesnt appear much in the audios up to now, but plays a vital role in the finale and Lucie's story in general.

Now, this is a decent story overall but I found it a bit rushed. They could probably have done with another 20 minutes or so to flesh the story out a bit more as it felt at times that things were solved too quickly, whitewashed over or just didnt fit in properly. That said though, this is a very easy listen and a nice lead in to the final story of the season. Nigel Havers plays Nick, who many will no as Sarah Janes Husband to be in SJA, with Julie (Miss Marple) Mckenzie as his wife.

The Headhunter, I feel, should have had more of a role in this seeing as she is a major player in the story that follows. Though she has been limited to about 3 minutes per audio for the last five so it doesnt feel too weird that she is limited here. Again, this isnt one of my favourite of the first series, but it is a nice little story and easy to get through without having to pay too much attention as there is very little detail to be picked up on.

I quite enjoyed this one. I agree about the pacing but the story is good and well written and the acting is great. Nice cliffhanger ending too.

Another great review Smiley

Thanks Doc Smiley

It is a good story but the one that comes next is the best. It's a nice lead
in but nowhere near as good

Oh yes, you really should. There are some really good ones. The one Chris reviewed the other day would be a good jumping on point as its the first of the Eighth Doctors audios and I have been reviewing the New EDA's and there are some great ones in there. Big Finish have such a great selection so if you like a particular Doctor or companion or villain then there is something for everyone. Dont be put off if you dont like the first one you hear though, because some are outstanding while others can be a little weak. Definately worth looking into though. And you can find loads online that can be streamed or downloaded if you dont fancy going to the shops Wink Smiley

Is it an audio story or an audio adventure? The stories are usually when someone writes a story and one person reads it. The adventures are the full cast audios. Like an episode without pictures Tongue

There were a couple of VERY good Torchwood audios on the radio a year or so ago

Well I know John, Eve, Gareth and Freema are in it, so I guess an adventure.

Which "type" is better?

Adventures. The stories can be good, but it often feels like you are a child being read too. Id much rather just read the books
