I loved it. The first 5 minutes were slow but from then I was gripped from start to finish. That ending was brilliant

I gave it a 4. I was getting a bit confused throughout but another rewatch should set that right. Brilliant ending

I seem at the moment to have an entire Twitter timeline of people, one of whom is me, saying "What the ****?" I think that pretty much says it all.

Damn good episode though. Wasn't entirely impressed with last week's episode, but part 2 was brilliant.

I would imagine most of the people who saw are saying 'what the ****?'

Yet another OMG escaped me tonight. I thought that was great  :D

Now, this is me being very picky and I greatly enjoyed that episode... but I only gave it 4 - Because I could break down almost every decision/plot turn/twist as I was going along and say why... I don't normally do that....

There were also a few moments where I went "Huh? Strange" As in, that doesn't work plot wise or that might be continuity... Need to rewatch though :)

Oh and I picked up on the final :O before it was shown.... *sigh* ;)

Full marks from me. I loved it and that ending was great.

Jen was brilliant throughout. She gave me chills at times. It was also quiet uncomfortable in parts, but in a good way. When they sat the Doctor down on the barrel I thought they were going to execute him :o

Yea I thought that about the execution as well. It put me right on edge

I could have happily given it full marks for the ending alone, but I thought the whole episode was brilliant. It carried on nicely from where last weeks left off and it didnt lose pace or intensity. This two parter is one of my favourites

Er, well for me it scores higher than last week, and the points would have to be due to the ending, but er will give it a 4.... maybe cause I was tired, but I got lost!  ::)

A 5 from me. It was visually brilliant and compelling and interesting with great pace and a lovely pay off at the end. Very happy with that. This story has been great

I think peeps here are going to start thinking I'm ill....I gave it a 2.

Sorry, but throwing in Tom Baker & David Tennant soundbytes and a two minute scene at the end to set up the finale does not a good episode make.

Just as plodding & drawn out as part one, with the same issues I had for part one.

You are going to end up with Chris' Victor Meldrew crown, you are ;D

I do get where you are coming from though. Personally I really liked it, but for those who didnt, I can understand that a big twist at the end isnt enough to recover the story

Hang on, is there an actual crown? I want!!!  >:D

It's obviously cool that folk loved it, I won't begrudge anyone that, just for me it was a really flat story - didn't need two parts I don't think.

Interesting race study The Doctor conducted, mind you.

I went with a 5. I gave a four last week I think and this episode was much better. They seemed to know what to do with the characters more this week. Jen was absurdly brilliant throughout and Amy was really on form. I even felt like she was channelling Donna at some points which is never a bad thing. I was really pleased with it.

Oh and the last 5 minutes were brilliant!

I gave it 4, because I felt the resolution to the story (not the cliffhanger) could have done with something more - not sure what, but I thought the Gangers abandoned their fight a shade easily.  On the other hand, the ending was awesome.

I thought whilst watching it last week it could have squeezed in to a single episode :)

I didnt mind that though because it only ever really felt like Jen wanted it in the first place. The others just seemed to want to be left alone

Yeah I thought the gangers were accurate, they realised that they were the same person and could hold the same rights and when their counterparts died/sacrificed themselves they stepped in to the same shoes and dealt with it humanely, obv cept Jen, but then she was different from the off

I only just remembered that the Americans don't get to watch this until next week. That sucks! Let's hope they don't all get spoiled

Shouldn't be too difficult. All they have to do is avoid the internet, television and other people, stay indoors, board up all the windows and doors, and spend the next week hiding under their beds with a soundproof bucket over their heads.

Not too much to ask, is it?

Well, I loved every second of that. I don't mind that I kinda guessed ...
the Doctors had switched shoes - I guessed that
That little 3 minutes at the end was just jaw dropping.

I imagine this will be one that really benefits from being watched as a whole 90 minute segment

Shocked to say... I really enjoyed it :o

Not the best episode, and I think Jen and Cleaves' character motivations compared to their Gangers was TOTALLY off and didn't make much sense.

The twist with Jen was obvious, but the twist with Amy? Woah. I thought when the Doctor was saying "Breathe" it was to do with the pregnancy, but I thought it'd be something she later remembered... not that she herself was a Ganger. Total shock when I worked it out in the final moments.

A very very surprising 4/5

(Oh, and I think it helped I waited till it was dark... it certainly wasn't scary, but I don't know... helped to set the atmosphere a bit more?)

I think I'm even more shocked to read it :o

;D

After your comments last week I would have expected you not to be so keen on it this week. Do you think, as Chris says above, watching it as a whole might change your opinion of the earlier episode?

Lol I was pretty err... outspoken last week :P

It might quite possibly. After exams I'll definitely watch them both in a row.

I'm holding off on voting right now to see how I feel about it after rewatch.

I already have my double viewing penciled in for tomorrow. I've given it 9 out of ten (based on both votes) so far, so I will be interested to see if it gets a ten when viewed alltogether

I went with a 5. I was thinking 4.5 but I rounded up. There were a few little niggles, like I wasnt completely sure that the writers had control of all the different characters and who was doing what, but overall it was totally enjoyable with a great finish

Title: Re: Poll: Rate & Review The Almost People

I've given it a five. That might just be me being slightly over generous because of how much I loved the story and the fact that it was complimented by a great ending, but I thought the first ten minutes were a bit slow and all over the place. That's my only complaint though really

I went with full marks again. I loved it last week and loved it even more this week. The twist at the end was good but I think the episode would have been great regardless. Jen was brilliantly creepy throughout and the stuff between the two Doctors was genius.

This is pretty much how I feel about it too. 5/5 from me

You know what, just rewatched it with The Mrs (hmmm...worst Timelord name ever? >:D) and you know what bud, I did actually enjoy it a little better!
It certainly benefits from a sweet ending which I didn't twig, but not as bad as my initial viewing.

I still think it didn't need to be a 2 parter, and the acting of Marshall Lancaster & the Scottish bloke especially, was dreadful.

Can I change my vote to a more respectable 3?

I just finished a double rewatch and its even better when you watch it all in one go. I really thought this story was going to bomb, which is perhaps why I was so impressed with it, but it was anything but bad. I think it might even be my favourite of the series so far.

I only just remembered that the Americans don't get to watch this until next week. That sucks! Let's hope they don't all get spoiled

Yeah well, some of us don't let that stop us...   >:D

I really wasn't looking forward to this episode, but I liked it a bit more than last week's so ... 3.  I found myself watching the clock (again) half way through, so turned it off and came back later to finish watching.

I agree that this could easily have been a one parter.

Did anyone else notice the gaffe with the sonic?  The Doctor tossed it to his double, who then left to go look for Rory (I think), but was knocked out.  But back inside the first Doctor whipped out his sonic.  Continuity - what's that??  And just when did they have time to swap shoes?  I don't know if it was just me not paying close attention, but I had a hard time hearing a lot of the dialog.

Some other things that made me go  ::) :  It seemed like they all just waited around for the Jenny-thing to catch them.  They all had plenty of time to get into the TARDIS.  And how convenient - the door doesn't lock, and what, all of a sudden the sonic can't bolt the door?  The balloon and the blood clot cure in a vial were totally hokey.  "Oh look, I keep a red balloon handy, and oh, here's your miracle cure right here next to the red balloon".  Which makes the fact that he couldn't save a supposedly drowning Rory a couple of weeks ago stand out even more starkly.

Dissolving the Amy ganger seemed to me a dumb idea - that was his only link to where the real Amy might be.  With that gone, how would he even know where to start looking for her?

The best part was the surprise ending. I'm looking forward to next week's at any rate, at least it's Moffat-written so it has to be better.

Except the TARDIS was half buried for most of the episode, remember? Hard to dig through six plus feet of acid-soaked dirt to open the TARDIS door, if you ask me. :P

And how convenient - the door doesn't lock, and what, all of a sudden the sonic can't bolt the door?
I personally assumed it was because the door physically didn't have a lock - bolt or otherwise - as opposed to the lock being jammed and just needing a sonic-ing.

The clot cure I'll concede, but the balloon isn't that much of a stretch for this Doctor, I don't think. I mean, the Doctor has carried some pretty random things in his pockets over the years. And balloons? Very Eleven.

Dissolving the Amy ganger seemed to me a dumb idea - that was his only link to where the real Amy might be.  With that gone, how would he even know where to start looking for her?
Maybe he wanted the real Amy to be properly conscious for childbirth?

No, I meant once the TARDIS had fallen through and they were all just standing there trying to figure out how to keep the Jenny-thing out.  They all could have made it to the TARDIS easily.

And how convenient - the door doesn't lock, and what, all of a sudden the sonic can't bolt the door?
I personally assumed it was because the door physically didn't have a lock - bolt or otherwise - as opposed to the lock being jammed and just needing a sonic-ing.

There was a touch-pad number lock on that door.  Should have been a no-brainer for the sonic!

But the balloon wasn't in his pocket, it was on the console next to Amy.

Dissolving the Amy ganger seemed to me a dumb idea - that was his only link to where the real Amy might be.  With that gone, how would he even know where to start looking for her?

Trust me, that's not very nice of him (been there, done that).  :P  As far as Amy's concerned she's been with Rory and the Doctor, and now she wakes up about to give birth, no clue where she is...  that's rather cruel actually.  That ganger was her only link to them as well.

Finally got to see it :)...It was OK, I gave it a 3. :-\

I'm staying away from the 'A Good Man Goes To War' thread until next week, the promo for it looked great. O0
