Title: Censored Words
Post by: The Doc on March 31, 2011, 11:46:22 am
The forum hosts have put a block on certain words being used within this and all other forums. They havent provided a list of what they deem to be innapropriate, but I think we can all work out what the main ones will be. Judging by the reaction they are getting I don't think it will be in place for too long but just so you are all aware, certain words will now be replaced with ***** if you cuss in your posts. Or even if you don't if a word contains the banned word in the middle. Its a pain, but hopefully it won't last long. It should mainly only be Iceman who is affected anyway :)

Ha, finally he is silenced :P

Well, the phrase 'Silence will fall' has been popular lately.  Maybe this is what they meant :P

Sorry - that was bad I know.  Forgive me.

Especially when it's so indiscriminate.

Occasionally words are obscured that aren't naughty at all but, as you said, contain another word in the middle of it. We all know they use certain words in Torchwood and in fanfics of it but you'd expect it there, wouldn't you? X) Slightly amusing, that this rule is in place by the forum hosts, but what can you do?  ;@

Due to my complaints, the words Dick and Dyke (from the first post we noticed the censorship on) are now usable again, however, some random words such as c-asino (you understand the hyphen, im sure) are on the banned list. I've asked for a list of banned words, but heard nothing

This reminds me of a thread on another forum about the comedian Tony Hancock. Can be quite difficult talking about someone when the board won't let you post his surname...

Surprised we're still stuck with this malarky - discovered that Douc he bag is also on the block list.
It's very silly.
Maybe we should all resort to Firefly-esque insults in foreign languages?

My favourite insult is "slubberdegullion" - an old word meaning a "dirty slobbering fellow".  I bet that's not on their list 8)
