Title: Unanswered Questions
Post by: Exterminate on May 01, 2011, 01:02:51 am
Everytime I post something I keep thinking of things that I don't know the answer to, but don't know where to post the questions, so I thought I'd set up a thread. We can put all the random, non connected questions in here, and if people know the answer they can then reply :)

I've forgotten most of the ones that were in my head but:

1) What did happen to Rory at the end of TIA?
2) Why were they on the run from the FBI?
3) What happened directly after Amy shot the girl?

there were loads more, but I keep forgetting them, ironically. I will no doubt come back to post more once I remember them though.

Here is another.

If it was a big setup that the whole team is in on, why did River throw herself off a 50 storey building to evade Canton. Why not just pretend to be shot like Amy and Rory? it would have been a lot easier and then we wouldnt have had to go through the scene where she falls into the TARDIS :P

Why do the Silents take so long to react? First in the bathroom with Joy and then in the spaceship with Eleven. It was like they were moving in slow motion. They didnt just zap their victims, it was like they were slowly building up the energy?

How did putting the Silents on the TV make sure that everyone killed them? Surely just saying 'you should kill us' doesnt mean that people will. And then as soon as it happened people were turning around to see them behind them and whatnot, as though they knew they would be there.

For this one, I *think* that the idea is that the Silents have the ability to implant thoughts into people's heads.  That they can suggest things to humans and the people will follow through.  So when the Doctor played the video of the Silents to everyone, the Silents in effect were implanting the suggestion to kill them in the heads of everyone seeing the broadcast.  So, then everyone turned around and was able to see them and follow through.

That is how I took it anyway.  Could be totally wrong!

How did they get from Florida back to Utah?

What was River doing in New York?

Why was Canton pretending to work with the FBI?

Why were they building a prison around the Doctor when they already had him restrained?

Where did they get the technology to build that prison?  The Doctor referred to it as the "perfect prison" - is it made from the same stuff as the pandorica?

It was weird enough that I'm wondering if some of it took places only in their minds.

What about the women who opened the top of that door and mentioned that she thought Amy might have been dreaming in the orphanage  and when Amy went inside the room there was no one there nor a slide panel at the top of the door?  Weird.

Was thinking earlier....

If Amy has that flashback in the TARDIS at the end of the episode with her and the picture, why doesn't she just ask the Doctor about it there and then?!

Have you never had a wee flashblack and then forgotten it straight away? Or known you have had a flashback but that is all you know? Or like a dream where the more you try to remember the less you can remember?

Besides, it might have just been an audience reference point and not Amy actually remembering :P

It is, that is why they had that moment with Canton and the Doc's bowtie :) So we would understand later on ;)

Besides, Amy and co all seem to remember all when looking at the Silents....I think

I'm not sure whether this is the right place to put these questions but if we are going for unanswered ones...

1. Why did the TARDIS blow up at the end of TPO/TBB?
2. Why in the whole of season 5 did 'The Silence will fall' keep croping up - was it merely to introduce them into the takeover of Earth in TIA or was there something more?
3. Why was it only Amy who could see the silence at the start of TIA?
4. Why did the Silence choose to communicate with Amy in the White House Loo?
5. Is Joy more significant than we first thought (the Silence took time out to introduce the victim "Her name was Joy" that is somewhat unusual methinks)?
6. Have all my questions been answered in other threads but - like the Silence - as soon as I read them I forgot them?

I also haven't had an adequate explanation as to why Amy forgot the Daleks in VOTD. I have surmised that this was the same reason she forgot her parents but this has never actually been explained so I won't put that as a question

3 - I assumed it was just angling and sunlight...?

5 - there might be more to it, but I took that as just for effect.  Amy asks the Silent why her killed her, and it says "Joy" which she takes for a moment to be his answer.  I assumed it killed her simply because she was getting in the way of it communicating with Amy - she was simply irrelevant, even though it knew everything about her.

6 - was there a question 6?

On Amy forgetting the Daleks, I always assumed that was the crack swallowing up those events.

Yeah, that's what i thought it was too... The crack erased certain things from time, and I was guessing the memory of the cybermen and daleks being one of them.

I assumed we just didn't know  ::)

I mean, some people have a theory that she hasn't been there all the time, you know because of the moment here Amelia was sitting on her suitcase then looked up at the TARDIS sound and Amy "woke" up... *shrugs*

What if *throws a random theory in* The Silence had managed to get a TARDIS like device to form and took Amy away at various points in her life, it is the Silence, so as soon as she looked away she would forget all about it...  It could account for missing memories, the "dream" moment, why she pressed random buttons in the TARDIS.... Just a random idea....

*gets wilder* What if that was how Rory arrived? "dropped out of the sky" Quite literally from a TARDIS, maybe the girl, or  >:D River...

:D What if River is Rory's Mum! :O I mean we know nothing about his background, he wants to be a Doctor...

Ok, I'll stop, I got carried away... ;)
