Perhaps you could ask your friend who gave it to your son how long they have had it and if it was new when they got it? A lot of older Doctor Who toys are now collectables and some are quite rare so you could potentially have something very cool, but its condition and whether or not it has its packaging would change its value considerably if you were looking at pricing it
