Title: The Eternity Clock
Post by: Peri-Peri on December 09, 2011, 07:40:11 pm
There was a video trailer for this, but it's been removed.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is being created in full high definition for digital download platforms and is set for release in early 2012, initially on Playstation 3; Playstation Vita and PC platforms.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth. Gamers must learn to master the complexities of time travel with exceptional time based game play, changes made in one time will impact another creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries.

A wholly new storyline has been developed especially for this new Doctor Who console game franchise, written in collaboration with the BBC Wales team. Photo-real graphics, television quality scenes and highly realistic characters will bring the world of Doctor Who to life immersing fans completely in the twists and turns of an action filled plot. The stars of the series Matt Smith (the Doctor) and Alex Kingston (River Song) have recorded full voiceovers for their characters in Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock and motion capture has been used to create in-game characters that are incredibly realistic providing the ultimate Doctor Who gaming experience. The game is being developed by Supermassive Games.

Two further Doctor Who console game titles are planned to follow this release with details to be announced next year.

It sounds great. Let's hope it's better than the Wii game.

Do you think there might be more to the fact that River is a main character? We are due another companion soon, after all.

You never know. Maybe that's why they people who uploaded the video were so keen to remove all traces of it from the net

Like TS said- let's hope it's better than the Wii game... I got it last Christmas and haven't even managed to get past the first level!

I never expected the graphic quality to be so good. Now I'm excited.

The first two pictures are excellent. Well they all are, but the third one looks a bit plastic wrapped.

Wow! That looks so much better than I was expecting. I'm actually pretty excited for this now. I also love that River is the companion throughout. A sign of things to come, maybe?

May be a bit of a wait for you DP, sorry. Its announced today that the PC version is being held back so that it can launch as a 'Playstation Exclusive' in March, but that will only be a European release. The rest of the world, plus the PC platform have to wait until the Autumn apparantly.

In that case I will probably pick it up for the Playstation 3, but I would rather have it for the PC. I prefer playing games on that. It feels more interactive. As long as I get it though I'll be happy

The trailer looks great. I don't have a playstation 3 though so I will have to wait for the PC version :(

I might do that myself. I want it early, but I would rather play it on the PC.

I don't really have a choice unless I get the playstation. It sucks to make people wait though :(

I think it will probably be easier to play on the Playstation so I will be getting it for that.

If my brother left the PS3 here when he was away I'd be tempted to get the playstation version, but I guess I too won't have much choice but to wait for the PC version... As long as it works on Mac... else I won't be able to get it at all... Well I could, but there wouldn't be much point

I'm going to be waiting for the reviews to come in before I pick up either. The Wii and DS games last year were poor and though this one looks visually a lot better, if it ends up being crap I'll just be annoyed that I spent the money on it. Maybe I will rent it from LoveFilm or something first.

Any news on a date for this yet. One site is saying the 12th but I can't find anything official. Thought maybe Peri-Peri or someone else might know?

It's probably just a fan guessing at dates. Nothing official has been announced yet but when it does I will update for you :)

The 12th is only next week. That would seem a little early given that there's been no promotion. They initiall said March but I wouldn't be surprised now if it was next month instead.

Not sure if this video will embed, but if not then the link should at least appear. It's a game walkthrough with commentary from IGN.

About time it got a date! I'm going to pick it up on PS3 I think. Don't want to wait ages for the PC version.

I'd rather get it on the PC but I really don't want to wait. I've looked for reviews but I don't think it's been preplayed because I can find hardly anything.

As far as I know it's been sent to certain gaming sites and magazines for reviews so you will probably get some reviews coming through over the next week or two, I'd imagine.

Really hope they do a Mac version... Otherwise there's no point me getting it :(

I went looking for reviews but found nothing at all. I did see this though, which has some extra gameplay info.

The game is set over 17 levels across four fundamental time periods on Earth - Elizabethan, Victorian, present day, the near future - and with several extra-terrestrial locations from the show thrown in for good measure, including the Cyber-factory, the Dalek Ship and the Stormcage Containment Facility, which you break out of as River Song using her hallucinogenic lipstick. Spoilers!

Ostensibly a side-scrolling platform puzzler with some stealth elements thrown in, The Eternity Clock will offer a new player between 8-10 hours of gameplay. There are a variety of puzzle mini-games peppered throughout the levels which you'll need to conquer to unlock doors, time portals, and lifts. If you're playing co-op, the puzzles become co-op too, meaning you'll have work together to solve them – much like the Doctor and his companions do in the show.

Has anyone bought a copy yet? I really want to play this but I don't have a PlayStation so I'll have to wait until it comes out on PC, but I have a Mac, so hopefully it's available for Macs too.

It only came out today, didn't it? I'm still in two minds about whether to wait for the PC version or not though. I'll probably cave if the reviews are good.

I watched my friends brother playing this the other day and it looked really good. I haven't heard much of it since its release so I assumed it wasn't very good or didn't take off, but the bits I saw of the gameplay looked really good.

It's actually really good. Not as long as most games, which is a shame, but it's a good game all the same.

Far too much rhyming in that post!

Well since I posted that I've actually had a little go of it myself and while I wouldn't particularly consider myself a gamer, I quite enjoyed it. If I had the time I'd consider trying to finish it
