Title: The 2012 NTA's
Post by: The Doc on January 02, 2012, 01:21:57 pm
The nominees for the National Television Awards have been announced with Doctor Who leading the pack alongside Downton Abbey with 3 nominations.

The show itself is up for the prestigious Best Drama Series award, which in a surprise turn of events was last year taken home by school drama Waterloo Road.

Matt Smith will be competing for the title of Best Actor again this year alongside Karen Gillan who is nominated for Best Actress.

The awards will be announced on January 25th.

Let's hope we have better luck than last year. I don't know who was doing the voting back then, but the winners weren't at all what I was expecting.

For those who want to, you can vote HERE (http://www.nationaltvawards.com/vote)

Just did my voting. There isn't much competition really. I found it easy for each catagory.

Voted for what I care tuppence about, which was basically DW-related and QI.  There wasn't a quiz-show category  >:(

I did hesitate between Karen and Eve, but I went for Karen, particularly on the basis of The Girl Who Waited.

I voted as well - its a bit of a bleak list isn't it? Doctor Who won't beat Downton Abbey - but I think Matt and Karen are in with a decent shout.

Awesome so far. Well done to Matt and Karen. Let's hope we pick up the big one now as well.

Yeah well done to Karen & Matt (I may have shouted YES a bit loud when Matt won!).

I suspected Downton would take the drama award (& I am a fan so I'm not going to moan).

Oh well, didn't get best Drama but Downton was always going to be a tough one to beat. At least that dreary school show didn't win.

Why can't I be this wise when it comes to the Euromillions draw? :'(

I'm glad Matt won - this means all three Nu Who Doctors have taken an NTA award home :)

Maybe it will work if you choose my numbers? :P

Shame about the big one but awesome to see them get the acting gongs. Well deserved

That's awesome news for both of them. They both deserved their win. It's also good they split it, because haven't males and females been in the same catagory for the last few years? Or was that another awards show?

I don't think losing out to Downton for Best Drama is anything to be down about though. It's winning Emmys and Golden Globes and seems to be huge all over the world now, so it was worthy competition. I've never seen it, but I have heard its excellent
