Title: Neil Gaiman Episode Details
Post by: The Doc on October 04, 2010, 06:06:01 pm
Neil Gaiman has been speaking out to reveal some more details about his Doctor Who episode, which is set to air third in the new run.

We already know from the BBC report that former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones has been cast in his story as a woman called Idris but Gaiman has apparantly added that she "may be an old friend of the Doctor's with a new face".

He also revealed that his script takes inspiration from Patrick Troughton's final story as the Doctor, first broadcast in 1969, saying "At one point, I steal a plot from an old episode called 'The War Games',".

I can think of far worse stories to steal plot elements from.

I dont think I can wait for Gaimans episode much longer. I am so excited to see what he has done. All these little tidbits of information are just making the wait so much harder

'maybe an old friend of the Doctors with a new face'

Who could this be? Another Time Lord maybe? I cant think of any big female characters from the past who could make a comeback other than the one beginning with 'R' who I shall not name :P

I really cant wait foe Gaimans episode to air. The only thing I think that could trump it for me is if the TD novel adaptation rumour turns out to be true. I love the War Games, so him borrowing elements from it couldnt be a bad thing.

In this episode, the TARDIS breaks down on an alien junkyard world, which is where the Doctor encounters Idris played by Suranne Jones.

"By the time the Doctor and friends meet her, she’s gone mad and ends up biting the Time Lord. . . but not on the bum, DWM can exclusively reveal".

"It’s rumoured Idris and the Doctor have met before, so who could she be? A new incarnation of the Rani, perhaps? Maybe the Master? Or a future version of the Doctor him. . . er, herself?"

From DWM

Oh that sounds awesome!! Im guessing though that the mention of the Rani counts her out, which sucks. No mention of Romana though.... :P

The other character who could possibly have a new face would be Susan.

I would absolutely love to see Susan back, and thats a great idea Nyki. I think a little part of me would be sad not to have Carol Ann Ford back but at the same time just having the character back and all the wonderful stories it could open up would be brilliant
