The Doctor In The TARDIS

I decided it might be a good idea to open another thread where I can let people know when I've added a chapter to the Harmony thread.  I hope that's okay.  If anyone wants to comment, please feel free.  Or just read.  Reading is good.  :)

Chapters 1-4 are now posted.  My goal is to get Chapter Five posted before the end of the night so that the whole first part of the novella is up for the weekend when people may have more free time for reading.  I will probably split chapter Five into two posts as it is quite long.

I read the first chapter this evening. It's great so far but it might be a few days before I can get to the rest. How many are there in total?

So glad you liked it.  Take your time, by all means.   It will be here.  :)  It's 15 chapters--just shy of 60,000 words.  A true novella/short novel.  I'm uploading it slowly here, a chapter at a time, but it can also be found complete in several places around the web.  Since people don't seem to be reading really fast I stopped after chapter four and will update when I have more time as Chapter Five is really long and will need to be split in two.  Reformatting (italics) is a slow process, especially with the interface here.  My eyes get a little buggy.   ;)

I'm up to the third chapter so far. It's not how I expected it to be, though to be honest I'm not totally sure what I was expecting. I'm enjoying it so far though. It's well written and easy to follow. I've a feeling tomorrow will be another sick day so i should be caught up once I next sign in.

Hey, Exterminate, glad you're liking it.  It isn't what a lot of people initially think it is... which I think is probably a good thing.   :)  I'm told it surprises and... that the plot unfolds in a "sneaky" way.  Good sneaky, not bad sneaky.  Was it the subject matter, or the characters that you didn't expect, or something else?  I'm curious.

I'm up to C7 at the moment. Not started it yet though. I will try and get some more done this evening. I'm enjoying it so far. I like that you are having the Doctor be logical. These days it seems that he just knows everything so it's nice to see him stumped or have to work things out a bit. You've also made Amy seem a lot more likeable. And funny. Her 'kill me now' comment (from I think chapter 5) was spot on.

I had another reader make the same comment about the Doctor having to sort things out logically vs just magically knowing.  That seems to have struck a chord with other people--I've also heard from more than one that they liked that the sonic screwdriver isn't a "magic wand" (even if it does get mistaken for one at one point by the Roundheads, lol).  Also very glad Amy's characterization is working for you--she figures more prominently in the final chapters.  She's older in Harmony than we've seen her on screen--they all are.  I hoped to show that realistically.  I'll be curious to hear what you think of my more "mature" Rose Tyler.   :)

Ok, ten down, 5 to go. I'm getting through it slower than I'd like but I keep getting busy. I like it a lot so far. I didn't expect you to fit in so many characters. That's not a complaint btw. It works. There is a good balance. I just expected less. I'm not going to say too much for two reasons. Firstly I suck at reviews but most importantly I want to see how it all plays out without asking too many questions. Excellent so far though.

Thanks Exterminate!  I'm glad you are enjoying it so far.   :) The last few chapters go very quickly--both because they are shorter and because the pace picks up... for obvious reasons.  Well, obvious once you get to that part. haha  I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't gotten that far.  I do hope you continue to enjoy the story, though.  I sure enjoyed writing it.  I hadn't written anything of any note in about ten years (long story) so when this started bubbling up, I ran with it.  When one is with the Doctor, one must run.  And when one is with two Doctors, one runs even faster.   :D

No, definitely don't reveal anything. I'm not that far along yet. Studies and work have put gaps in my reading. I'll get there but I don't want spoilers.

I have to admit I've not even started yet. I have every intention to, it's just finding the time. Hopefully at the weekend :)

How have I missed this before? I have a baby free weekend so I will try get it all read over the next day or two. Everyone seems to be enjoying it. That's got to be a good sign.

I have something related to Harmony that I've posted in a couple of other places but haven't posted here... maybe I should.  It is, essentially, a "missing scene" from about 24 hours before the beginning of Harmony when the meta crisis Doctor is in Scotland.  It is from Rose's POV and serves as the framework for the first chapter of what will eventually be a "companion" story to Harmony.  A lot of people asked about what was going on behind the scenes and would I tell "the rest of the story," so I've been stitching it together.   :)
