Title: Re: Rate & Review The Day of the Doctor Post by: Blazin Goliath on November 23, 2013, 09:31:06 pm Brilliant. Everything I was expecting, and more. Of course, I could feel differently after a few rewatches, but I highly doubt it.

Title: Re: Rate & Review The Day of the Doctor Post by: poprockgeek on November 23, 2013, 10:59:37 pm I loved it too. And yet another unexpected appearance - that new noise I made when I saw PM in The Night of the Doctor, I made it again tonight :D

Just so many great things, old and new, and that last surprise was just the icing on the cake. And it promises a new (or old/new) direction for the show, too. Title: Re: Rate & Review The Day of the Doctor Post by: Joshua on November 24, 2013, 10:27:38 pm Absolutely brilliant. So so so so good. Definitely going to need another watch to fully understand and appreciate everything, but excellent.
Clara was excellent, Rose looked stunning and John Hurt - I want a season with HIM! Damn he was superb. I got such chills when all the Doctors (and Capaldi!) appeared. Amazing. Title: Re: Rate & Review The Day of the Doctor Post by: ardalyon on November 27, 2013, 06:04:55 pm Not perfect, but I'm gonna give it 5 anyway!
Reservations? Billie Piper was in it just to have Billie Piper in it, and you could probably say the same for Tom Baker's cameo (though I don't care!) They were a little bit tacked on. The different parts of the story maybe didn't meld quite as well as they could have done. Also, I would have liked a more complete regen. But considering how many things Moffatt had to do (all 13 doctors!) it was pretty remarkable. And I wasn't fussed about how the treaty turned out -- the clever part was the use of ignorance (an idea of the political philosopher John Rawls, if anyone's interested) Incidentally, was Tom Baker pictured on the screen in Gallifrey? I maybe saw a glimpse, but wasn't really sure. Did Ecclestone film anything new, or was he spliced in with the rest of them? Title: Re: Rate & Review The Day of the Doctor Post by: poprockgeek on November 27, 2013, 06:18:44 pm The clip of Eccleston was apparently lifted from The Parting of the Ways. He was invited back, but declined.

I was actually bouncing in my chair and clapping! I think that was a first for me. LOL I've watched it 3 times now; absolutely amazing each time! O0 |
