Title: Misfits

Who watches this? The trailer for the new series has just finally aired. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever coming back. It said 'returns Nocember' which means there is only a few weeks to wait. There is a Christmas Special this year as well I heard.

Lauren is my favourite character. She is awesome and I love her character. Not the best superpower, mind.

Love, love, love this show, and yes Icey, you would like it too, more than Being Human as this is more your kind of humour :D

I can't watch the new trailer until tomorrow :/ :(

Love this show - I watched it after it beat out Being Human to the BAFTA.

I really like Nathan - I think, from other stuff I've read I may be in a minority here, but although he can be as annoying as hell, there's something about him I like.

Great ending to the series has really left me wanting more. Hope they can keep the quality up & it doesn't lose it's way.

I'm not big on nathan. I like lauren and the weird guy. He's really strangely hot.

Perhaps Iceman would be more interested if he knew about the girl with the sex superpower :P

My favs are Simon and Nathan too, thou they are all fantastic in their roles.  I've told Icey about the lustful power, I really like the way it's handled on the show, it can hilariously funny one second and than twist into something very dark and dangerous which make you question why you where laughing to begin with.

I really hope it's not gonna a one series wonder, as it was all so tightly paced last year, but since then the writer has been involved in about 10 other projects, lol.  This show beats Heros hands down, and I hope it continues to do so :D

Oh I love this show! It seems like years since the first series finished. Cant wait for it to start again.

Yea I agree. Sometimes it can be really unconfortable but other times its really funny. Will be interesting to see how her relationship with the athlete guy develops in the next series.

And also, yay to the one hour xmas special :D

I've only seen the first 2 episodes if memory serves.
I had real trouble getting into it.

But then again, I've never watched Inbetweeners, so you all probably hate me now!!

Ice - psych is still going? I'm shocked! I tuned out about 2 series ago, although I have seen the episodes with WWE cameos - sad but true.
I think chuck is going the same way - 1 & 2 rocked, but it got guff midway through series 3 for me, not to mention the "Brandon Routh factor".

Grrr, gonna have to sneak a look at the clips at work tomorrow, seen loads of people on twitter getting excited over them.

I think the Christmas one is standalone from what was said back in the summer on Jonathan Ross.  They had filmed the first 3 eps by then and had just found out about doing a Christmas one as a bonus.

I'll get some links DM'd on twitter tonight if you want?  I think you'll like it, it's a hidden gem of a show.  Howard Overman created it, and he's been called to write for just about everything since this came out and beat Being Human to the BAFTA :D

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Sandiwich11 on November 12, 2010, 12:46:59 pm
Strong return, loved this episode!!  Most people in our chatroom are speculating that Super Hoodie is going to be one of the ASBO lot, mainly either Curtis or Nathan.  I'm not sold on that idea, I'd like for it to be a new character.  I'm very intrigued to know what the countdowns and timeline bits were in his den at the start, and how he seems to have prior knowledge of what's going to happen.  If it turns out to be Curtis on a 'step back in time' I'm going to be disappointed, I'm sure Overman would be more inventive than that.

The overnights are in, 1.1 Million on E4 and +1 which is an increase in 400K from the finale last year ;D  I think will easily transfer to C4 next year; there's talks of a film and American remake but I seriously hope that's just hype rather than a reality.  Overman and Robert Sheenan (Nathan) have dismissed them both as rumour recently thankfully.

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: poprockgeek on November 12, 2010, 01:14:29 pm
Oh please - what is it with the American remakes?! I know there have been odd shows that we have remade over the years but generally we take them as they are - sorry I'll get off my soap box before I really get a rant on!!!  :P

Just watched last night's Misfits. In a nutshell - absolutely fab. Great storyline, loads of laughs, mysteries ... - love it.

And Nathan is still my fave.

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Sandiwich11 on November 12, 2010, 01:40:43 pm
Nathan is wicked, but I find it very hard to separate my love of him, Simon and Kelly.  Curtis and Alisha are good, but I just don't find them as interesting as characters compared to the other three.

Can we talk about the next week trailer in here, or would it be best to have a spoiler topic?

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: poprockgeek on November 12, 2010, 02:23:29 pm
I was thinking about this last night because I didn't watch it as it was broadcast so felt I had to stay out of the thread to keep myself spoiler free, although in fairness people have been very good at not saying anything that would ruin someone else's viewing (as an aside to my thoughts on this I'm staying out of the Glee thread, for example, because I'm not watching it til it's broadcast here next year).

How about we can discuss/speculate about anything that has been broadcast in here - so the trailer for the next ep is fair game. Anything new that is yet to be broadcast and is therefore spoilery has to be enclosed with spoiler threads & clearly marked? If there's loads (or people disagree) we could split it off into a new thread.

We could also mark this main Misfits thread in some way (I don't know kind of - contains discussion of broadcast material) - so people know that if they have never watched the show spoilers are ahead.

I love Simon too, so happy I'm not alone as everyone on STV prefers Nathan, lol.  I like him too, but Simon is a much more rounded and interesting character imo.

A friend found this site with some hilarious gifs from 2.01 on it - http://s-k-i-n-s.com/tagged/gif:_misfits

Next week's episode looks brilliant, Nathan with a brother should be great fun to watch.  And why is Superhoodie following Alisha? :O

Well bang goes my theory. I thought helmet guy was the black copper, but his/her hands were white.

Tonights episode has been brilliant, but as much as I love the character its been a bit Nathan heavy so far. I agree with TDD though, Kelly (Lauren is her real name) on drugs was hysterical

Epic episode was epic ^______^

I think Cutis's flash to the future could be that some of them have joined Superhoodie as a superhero crime fighting team of some kind :D

My favourite bit was Simon's gurning in the toilets while talking to Nathan, Kelly jabbering away off her face and Nathan covering himself in sun tan lotion :o

Off for a rewatch ;D

I'm a bit underwhelmed, loved some bits but really didn't like others.  Think I need a rewatch before deciding about this episode, the Simon reveal was something I was dreading...one of them from the future as SH :(  But Iwan is such a fantastic actor that I can't help loving it.  *conflicted* lol

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Peri-Peri on November 26, 2010, 10:47:37 am
I enjoyed it. The bit with the peanut was totally stupid and I hate the Lost type elements that seem to be creeping in, but on the whole it was pretty good. And Simon is very easy on the eye when he is all naked even if he is totally pale :)

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Sandiwich11 on November 26, 2010, 01:56:37 pm
Lots of people seem to be saying that future Simon is cute, I think both are bloody gorgeous thou *omnom*

The peanut thing was silly, but I didn't really like the tattoo plot at all if I'm honest.  It felt like it was stuck in at the last minute and all the attention was spent on getting the SH reveal right, and they didn't really both polishing up the rest of the episode :(

Iwan was superb throughout, the guy is an amazing actor.  His subtle facial movements convey so much more than the words he says most of the time, and I thought the differences between present and future Simon were wonderfully portrayed.  They were so obviously the same person, yet SH had much more confidence mixed in with his humbleness; it was great!!

I think there's more to SH than just wanting to save Alisha, or at least I hope there is.  I'm really gutted that they have used time travel like this if I'm honest; Curtis conciousness travels not his body.  Part of me wonders if it is some other bad guy who can absorb others powers and has taken the shape shifters one, and possible an immunity from someone else since he can touch Alisha and not be effected.  And why has he not made himself invisible as yet?  Seems that he could be far more effective in some of the situations we have already seen him in if no-one could see him :P

Another great episode tonight. The computer game stuff was a bit random but well put together. I'm really liking the new girl so I hope she sticks around though I'm guessing she will die after her comment about not dying. Next weeks looks good with a shift to Kelly. She is my favorite. Well her and Simon. Still chuckle everytime nathan calls him Barry :P

I have a feeling that the death we saw at the end won't actually happen if that makes sense?

Last nights episode was fab. Loved the GTA references. Kelly is also my favourite and her comic timing is brilliant. She had all the best one liners in yesterdays episode

This series has been great so far but I'm not sure how I feel about them making it more of an over-arching story. This time travelling interference from Simon takes away from it a bit for me

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Roranicus on December 04, 2010, 11:26:58 pm
Yea I get what you mean. I suppose they have to do it like this though or it will get boring. The first series was great but repeating that over and over would be boring. They have powers but if we dont see them using and dealing with them in a larger story then there is nothing worth watching as nothing is new.

I dont like the time travelling Simon thing either though, even though Simon is even sexier with his bags of confidence :P

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Peri-Peri on December 10, 2010, 06:14:33 pm
I think this weeks was the first ever that I got bored of half way through. It just didnt seem to have much point to it. The gorilla story was ridiculous but I did appreciate the way that they showed the storm affecting an animal and himanising them, rather than the other way around. That was a nice twist. This episode just seemed full of filler for me

I enjoyed it, but it was probably my least favourite episode so far. This weeks looks really good though and the Xmas Special is coming soon which should be great

I thought last night episode was great. Was a nice return to form after a couple of weaker episodes. The reset was a bit of a copout but I guess he may as well use his power for stuff like that

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Sandiwich11 on December 17, 2010, 03:41:15 pm
Loved last nights episode, my only grumble was that I wish Simon had travelled back with Curtis so he could retain the SH info while Alisha forgets that she had told him about it :(

Milk boy was a fantastic unique power, and so well played out in 40 minutes.  Howard Overman does seem to be able to flesh characters out wonderfully in a very short time.

I have to agree with Exterminate that the last two eps have been much weaker, but with the amount of material he has produced this year has been astounding so I was expecting a slightly weaker series.  But it has still been far better than I had hoped for.

Roll on Sunday ;D ;D

And then a ten and a half month hiatus :(((((((((((

I agree. The Christmas episode was brilliant. Back on form after a dodgy mid-season. Cannot wait for the next series. So glad its been confirmed (though that would have also been an awesome way to end the series). I hope Curtis' girlfriend gets ressurected. I really like her. Nathans new squeeze is also really funny

An announcement was made at Kapow Comic Con this morning concerning the next series of Misfits. I'll spoiler tag it just in case people don't want to know but although it is a spoiler of sorts it's been generally announced by the production team & therefore is in the public domain.
Robert Sheehan (Nathan) will not be returning to the show. Nathan will bow out & a new character will be introduced in an online special before S3 starts.
Just from a personal point of view I think knowing this in advance is better than not knowing!

Title: Re: Misfits

That isn't clear - they are saying it's to say goodbye to him so I personally would hope so but they haven't specifically said he will be. As soon as any more is known I'll add it here  :)

Perhaps Nathan's new power is that he 'regenerates', but once he has done it he doesnt know how to change back, so the new character is Nathan, but not.

Nearly finished my full rewatch ready for the new series. Just watched the gorilla episode last night so have two more to go. I've read a couple of reviews for the new series opener which make it sound pretty cool and I accidently read a spoiler about the new guys power which annoyed me because it was on a 'spoiler free' review. Grrr

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Peri-Peri on October 19, 2011, 12:44:41 pm
I was reading an interview the other day with Howard Overman where he was saying that a lot of the questions that have already been raised, and will be raised in series 3, won't be answered until series 4, which assuming ratings are good means a sort of unofficial confirmation of renewal? Or at the very least the intention of another series. Whether the cast will stay on though is anyones guess because in another interview I was reading with Antonia Thomas who plays Alisha, she was saying the cast weren't sure if they even wanted to sign on for a third series. It was an old interview but if they were questioning a third series, chances are they would a fourth.

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: poprockgeek on October 21, 2011, 10:08:14 am
You have to sign in somehow - FB connect or register for an account. I think it's because Misfits has a high rating so they have to verify they aren't showing any content to people under 18 (that's the age it mentions on the Misfits page anyway).

Misfits returns to E4 on Sunday October 30th at 10pm  :D

I was having trouble viewing on the channel 4 site too. The video doesn't come up whether you sign in or not. I've seen it now but I had to go elsewhere.

I don't understand why it is back on Sunday. Was it always on on a Sunday? Seems like a random day

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: The Doc on October 30, 2011, 12:41:18 pm
I think it used to be on on Thursdays, but there is always a chance it could move to Thursdays or another day after the launch or something? Some shows do that.

I thought it was a bit of a weak opener to be honest. Well, not weak, just not great. I understand they needed to introduce Rudy but I think the other characters took too much of a back seat. That said though, I do like the new guy. I thought I wouldn't but I prefer him to Nathan already

Nah it's staying on Sundays. E4 have changed their line up around a bit lately & Thursdays seems to be new sitcom night. Suits me as I already have a fair number of shows on Thursday night  :)

Oh & I quite liked the first episode.

Title: Re: Misfits

Yeah, first episode was alright, and Rudy seems like a good character too.

I don't understand why Curtis changed his power to that... I think I need a S2 rewatch - was he forced to?

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Exterminate on November 02, 2011, 01:56:32 pm
He did say in the episode that it was the only one they had left and so he had to take it or he wouldn't have one.

With the exception of Simon and Rudy, all of their powers seem a bit stupid/naff, but I assume that they will be important to the plot later and will suddenly seem like genius powers to have. Kelly's is worth it though just for the laughs ;D

Aye, but why did he have to change it in the first place? Sorry, I have a bad memory

Title: Re: Misfits
Post by: Aneurin on November 03, 2011, 12:21:15 am
Alisha sold her powers because because she didn't like that nobody was able to touch her and then told the others about it and they decided to do the same, and all got 20 grand each, but then they all got robbed by the guy working for 'Jesus' and he then bought all their powers (apart from Nathans apparantly, because he ended up dead). When Curtis' girlfriend was killed they all went back to try and get their powers but he had sold them so they went to steal their money back off the priest, killed him and then went for new powers with all the money but decided to have new ones, but then could only have whatever was left which is why they all have random powers.

I think thats right anyway :)

I can't believe I only just found this show. I'm addicted. I'm on episode 3.7 now so only one more to go before I get up to date. I thought the first two series were good but the third one has been superb. I've been watching for about 3 days so hadn't got very attatched to the characters when Nathan went but I didn't think Rudy would work, then he ended up being excellent so I'm not too worried about Alisha and Simon going.

You've been missing out. It took me ages to get around to the third season for some reason but when I did it was awesome. Best season so far, definately. It's a shame about Alisha and Simon but their stories became so personal that they are done now and so I don't think the show will lose out by having them leave. Stuff about the new characters was released this week. I'll spoiler it, but it's nothing particularly spoilery.
3 new characters will be coming to Misfits for the fourth season. A casting call went out for: "... Jess is a kind of female version of Larry David – smart and articulate, She’s the person who will say the un-sayable, the person who’ll question social norms and etiquette. Jess hates people who bullshit and lie to her. ... Finn has a childlike naively optimistic view of life, he’s always eager to please and enthusiastic about life. Finn talks a lot and often uses this to try and talk himself out of difficult or awkward situations. He is very funny. ... Alex is the sexiest guy on the estate. He is super good looking, all the girls fancy him but for some reason he is very standoffish, he doesn’t seem interested in girls. Everyone reads this as being extremely suspicious and suspect it’s power related.”
I finally watched the third season a few weeks back. I wish I hadn't put it off so long. It was brilliant. I agree with Ex that Alisha and Simon had run their course. I wasn't so sure before watching but adter that finale everything felt tied up and so I'm not so bothered about them going. I think Seth is being made a regular and with three new characters the show will be fine, I'm sure.

What's happening with this show now. Is it coming back? I still haven't watched the last season and I've heard mixed reviews and that ratings were down. With so many changes I'd just assumed it had quietly faded out, but are they going to make more?

One more season then that's it.

The last series wasn't great IMO. I'll watch it to the end now, but I've not really taken to the new characters & have never gelled with Rudy at all - Nathan was as crude as he is, but I always found something to like in him. Rudy - meh!
