Title: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 05, 2011, 09:04:38 pm
*She stepped outside of her flat on the way to work; it often seemed to be raining there in Cardiff. Taking her car in the direction of the Hub, she parked it nearby.  The Rift running through the city gave them plenty to keep track of, from weevils and other creatures coming through, to disturbances in time and space.  One thing they could do is get up and keep going again even if they got a setback. Before going in to work, she stopped by the walkway near the Plass to lean on the railing.  She thought what she could do first was to track any residual Rift activity in the area.*

After all that's happened so far, I've found, not all of our work is centred in the building; a lot of it is spent out investigating and preventing trouble from happening. It has some things in common with the job I used to have with the police, though of course other things have changed a lot for me.

Well look what we have here. Whats a pretty thing like you doing out here alone? Good old Jack finally let you out on your own, pretty thing? It's a good day for it, wouldnt you say?

*blushes* Yeah, well, it's not like he can keep me in there all the time. Just wanted to check up on things. Thanks for the compliment by the way... I do what I can.

No doubt he likes you out of the office so that him and Eye Candy get in some, what shall we call it? Special time! Time was when I was.... Let's keep that for another day.

That's how it goes... er, they do like to have the Hub to themselves a lot, maybe that's why Jack tells me to go home sometimes.

Post by: JohnHart on January 10, 2011, 06:54:28 pm
I would say so! That's the thing about people like Ianto Jones. So easily corruptable. They just need a strong male figure to lead them astray. Maybe I should take him out sometime....?

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 11, 2011, 06:13:25 am
You'd have to get past Jack first. I don't imagine he'd let Ianto go too easily, or any of us for that matter. But you must have been to so many other places before finding us here.

Well I spent an interesting evening with a Blowfish a few nights ago. He seemed to know a lot about you lot and was very happy to point me in the right direction. Kept saying something about you all putting an end to a little drugs ring he had going. You always make a point of pissing off the locals? I said I would have a word on his behalf. Now you be nice to the little fishy.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 12, 2011, 01:44:48 am
I don't trust those Blowfish, they're always causing trouble. Stealing cars, drugs, shooting at people... they give us as much to do as the weevils. Of course weevils aren't known to drive, but you get the idea. The police are in the habit of stopping crime among humans, while we get involved with the aliens. That's our job.

And yet you seem to have completely missed the big bad that came through that rift of yours last night. Holed up in a warehouse downtown is what I hear, after scaring some little old ladies half to death in the small hours. Probably planning his next move while you stare out at the ocean and Jack is getting his freak on with the tea boy down in the Bat Cave. Good job I am on hand to help or you lot would have a lot more to deal with than a pissed off blowfish. You know, for a small fee I don't mind dealing with your little problem. It just so happens I have a quiet day ahead and could do with something to occupy my time. Or maybe I should go offer my services to the new guy in town and help him take you lot out. Now that would be fun!

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 16, 2011, 03:29:31 am
This is probably when I let the rest of the team know what's going on here; it's obviously more than just I can handle by myself. *activates her comm* Jack, Ianto, Owen, Tosh? You might want to look into Rift activity for the past few days. I hear there's been quite a few visitors, in fact I'm with one now. *switches off, still watching John* Jack has dealt with a lot in his time, we all have. I doubt it will help us if you decide to take us down as well.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on January 21, 2011, 01:58:45 pm
Well I'm not often in the business of helping, sweet thing. And I haven't heard you offering any reasons why I should. I don't suppose you work for free do you? My help don't come cheap!

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 21, 2011, 11:53:22 pm
I don't really trust as easily as I used to, but I could use some help. If we had an experienced man like you on our side we'd have a better chance. I was just being a bit cautious since Jack might have a different view of it, and he signs the paychecks after all, so I don't want to get on his bad side.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on January 22, 2011, 09:17:47 pm
Oh no! We wouldnt want that would we!!! Not the bad side of good old Jack. Maybe I should leave you to it. Watching you all running around in circles wondering what the hell to do will be fun enough on its own.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 26, 2011, 06:13:45 am
*shrugs* Suit yourself, but personally, I wouldn't want to get lonely. Sometimes we can get too safe, and I've always wanted to look closer at these situations, no matter what. Jack likes to keep me guessing but he'll probably be a step ahead of me already.

This girl bothering you John? I been watching from across the way and noticed she has a gun in he back pocket! Why don't you hand it over lady and move along!?

Hey, I'm not bothering anyone. This is where I'm supposed to be and I'm going to need this gun to defend myself... it’s actually not just for show. So, what brings you here besides what I’ve heard so far? I see the scenery isn’t the only thing you’re interested in, but at the moment you’ve just got me to deal with. What’s it going to be, then? Because I’m not going to stand down that easily.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on March 06, 2011, 12:40:29 pm
I wouldnt worry about the gun! She probably doesn't even know how to use it. I could have your neck broken before you even reach for the safety. Go ahead, call up the rest of the muppet gang. Let's party.

Clive, you still got grenade? I feel like making a mess of this pretty little bay

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood

Right... I don't think so. I do know how to use this gun but I'd rather not, you know. Also I'd rather keep my neck and the bay the way they are... *shakes her head* I don't get it, wanting to destroy things... I know it's what you do but I don't want to do that sort of thing much. I venture to suggest that I might be more use to you intact, if you give me a chance, John. *sighs, leaning back to the rail* I want to have a chance with you.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on March 10, 2011, 06:56:23 pm
People rarely get chances with me hotlips. Although......, give Jack the brushoff and come work for me and you might just get one. Think about it. Me and you. We could make quite the team. I only make these sorts of offers once so think on it!

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on March 12, 2011, 05:37:24 am
There aren't many people who do stay around... it's that sort of place where people come and go a lot. As long as you want to keep me around for a while, I think we could get along. Don't we all need someone to keep us company?

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on March 17, 2011, 01:20:46 pm
This isnt about company, little one, this is about war.

I didn't think you would be so easily swayed. Pretty thing has gone rogue. I like it. Just don't think about playing me, sweet lips. We wouldnt want things to get messy now, would we?

So, while we're playing nice, why don't you fill us in on that merry group of bandits down below. What's changed? We know Jack is the tea boys weakness, but what about the others? If we are going to take them out, we may as well be imaginative!

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on March 18, 2011, 05:50:59 am
Even when they're here, they only have time for each other... then what are they going to do, send me home where I can't talk to anyone? I really don't know where else to go and I've already been waiting a long time. You know, they're always pairing off, Jack only wants Ianto, that leaves the other two... I'm sure you can figure it out. Not that any of them are an item yet exactly... I see them looking at each other though. *sighs* They just assume I'm going to be okay.

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Clive The Blowfish on March 21, 2011, 02:46:51 pm
John, you can't seriously trust her! She looks shifty to me.

I'll be keeping my eye on you, woman

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on March 22, 2011, 02:46:29 am
Oh yeah? Well, so will I. I'm just here to... help, I guess you'd call it. I do want to get to know John a little better. Wonder why he keeps taking up with blowfish...

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on April 16, 2011, 06:04:05 pm
I don't keep taking up with blowfish! It was ONE TIME! We were drunk and... Oh, you mean in my evil schemes? Well he knows what he is doing.

Now, you two better start getting along. I'd hate to have to pour oil over you and watch you fight it out. Gwen, give a call to tea boy. I've got an aching to break some fingers. That should get Jacks attention

Title: Re: A Day at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on April 16, 2011, 10:44:09 pm
Uh, do I really want to know...? I'm not that used to getting along with blowfish, sorry. But I'll try. Have you done something to the comm system again? He hasn't been picking up. *touches her earpiece* Ianto... are you there?

*looks back at John* I'll see if your blowfish friend is more willing to collaborate with me...

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on April 17, 2011, 10:18:25 pm
And doesnt that just say it all? They aint answering the comms! I aint touched them sweet lips. This place is riddled with CCTV so they can see me and you know it, but have they run to your rescue? Not a chance. And this is the merry bunch of bandits you bust your ass every day to protect? You're better off with us!

Now, shake it off and get over them. They ain't no friends. We have a package to pick up, are you coming?

*holds car door open*

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on April 18, 2011, 12:21:14 am
*she hesitates* Well, okay... they don't have much time for me anyway, and they can't stop me from... amusing myself in the meantime.

*walks over slowly, watching him* Looks like you're my only chance of some action and at least this way I can know where you are. Let's just trust each other, all right? *walks past him and gets in the car*

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on April 18, 2011, 11:54:31 pm
Listen, love. If you'd rather stay around here all your lonsome then by all means do, but if you want a bit of fun and excitement then buckle up, put a smile on those pretty lips and let's get going. There's a raid about to take place and I never miss a raid

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Clive The Blowfish on April 18, 2011, 11:56:52 pm
Are you two done with the chatter? If you'd like to take the back seat and get to know each other better then just hurry up. We need to get our hands on those drugs and we got to do it fast!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on April 18, 2011, 11:57:47 pm
Fun in the back seat eh? Well, I'm game if you are sweetheart!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on April 20, 2011, 12:58:17 am
I already told you, I'll go with you. *curls up in the back seat, smiling brightly* Are you coming along? Promise you'll stay with me? I'd hate to be disappointed. Well... we can talk on the way. *she looks down, pulling her jacket close around her and fastening her seatbelt*

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on April 25, 2011, 08:10:54 pm
Look, this is how its going to go down. Clive and I are going to pick up a package. You need to watch our asses and keep a look out for us! You know how to use this?

*Hands piece of tech to Gwen*

If anyone comes near the warehouse, press that button. I will get the signal and get the hell out of there. This is risky business, sugarlips! Don't let me down. Once we're out, you need to be in that drivers seat and ready to go. Understand?

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Clive The Blowfish on April 27, 2011, 09:43:00 am
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

You are going to trust her with the wheels? Whats to stop her driving off and leaving us here with the fuzz?

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on April 28, 2011, 06:51:07 am
I think I can manage that. *winks* And we haven't been on such good terms with the police ourselves. I doubt I'd want to attract their attention anyway. I was just a common assistant then, and look at me now. *laughs as she takes the device* I'll be sure to look out for you.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Clive The Blowfish on April 30, 2011, 03:05:15 pm
A common assistant? You still seem pretty common to me!

John, I don't like this. Aside from the police, what if she puts a call in to her muppet pals down in the bay? The last thing we need is Captain America and his band of merry misfits showing up.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on May 03, 2011, 05:31:44 am
*rolls her eyes* Sure, I'm just as common as everyone else. Hey, I'm not sure if anyone can get their attention... I tried several times already.. just us then. *shrugs*

*sighs sadly, shaking her head* I guess I'm just along for the ride.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood

About bloody time! You know, its hard enough to concentrate as it is, without some puny human gabbing away in my ear all day

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on May 28, 2011, 12:36:13 pm
*points out the window*

Right there's the warehouse. Pull up over there behind that building. We need somewhere with easy in and out access.

You remember what I told you hotlips? You get the slightest whiff of trouble and you push that button and get us out of there.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on May 28, 2011, 07:33:32 pm
*nods* This is it, right? Well, I do believe I've put you through enough so far. Let's just go to it.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on June 05, 2011, 06:23:45 pm
And no heroics. If something goes down just stay away. I don't want you doing your wonderwoman act and getting us all killed. We're professionals. We can handle this!

*starts leaving*

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on June 06, 2011, 03:44:07 am
I'm a professional too, you know. Do you think I've never heard of a stakeout? *smirks* I know you can handle things yourselves... I'd be glad to let you deal with that.

God these earpieces are itchy!!

How is it looking out there? Any signs of trouble?

Ah good, you've gotten in safe. Nothing yet... just out here in the car. Have you found anything in there?

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Clive The Blowfish on September 12, 2011, 01:21:49 pm
I'm not liking this, Hart. It's way too quiet in here. Somethings not right. I bet that b!tch has set us up!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on September 12, 2011, 01:28:30 pm
She hasn't set us up! Would you quit it. Shut up and let me concentrate.

*Radios Gwen*

Doll, I need you to check the computer in the back seat. Scan the warehouse for signs of life and tell me how many are showing up. There should be more here by now. And remember, if you see anyone coming in or out let me know straight away. Stay peeled!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on September 13, 2011, 09:43:45 am
Hm? *pulls out the computer* There's the two of you... wait, one, two more showing up. Guards, maybe? Opposite side of the building from you though, don't think they've seen you yet. *sounding worried* I'm here for you.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on September 27, 2011, 01:07:00 pm
I've been scoping out this building for weeks and haven't seen a single guard. My guys know not to come in on that side of the building. It should be empty. I don't like this! Something isn't right.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on October 07, 2011, 07:35:04 am
At any rate, I don't think you've been seen yet. Have you found what you've been looking for? *sighs as she pages through the CCTV images* As far as I know, no one knows you're here except for me, and I sure haven't told anyone.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on October 11, 2011, 04:09:13 pm
You sure about that? The last thing we need right now is Jack turning up with his gang of halfwits and putting a spanner in the works.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on October 13, 2011, 09:09:08 am
If you find what's in this building you won't have to worry about that. Despite what you might think, Torchwood and the police don't know about everything that goes on in this town... and if I'm with you they'll know even less.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on December 30, 2011, 06:37:15 pm
If I get what I need on this trip it won't matter who knows I'm here! Money is power, babe, and this little package is going to make me a mint! There's gunna be a new leader in town and you can be right up there with me!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood

*battles through bad comms reception*

Gwen?! Gwen can you hear me? Where are you? We're getting reports of a disturbance on the North Docks with a spike in rift activity in the locality. Gwen? Are you getting this Gwen? If you're in the area we need you to take a look.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood

I don't know, Gwen. I don't like the sound of this. Why didn't you tell us he was back in town? Was it him who came through the rift or was he already here? I still think I should get Jack and come down there.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 24, 2012, 03:09:28 am
I did contact the Hub but wasn't able to find anyone there... then I went off with John myself, thought I was on my own. Hey, the first I knew was he came up to me, and then John here trusts me to work with him.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood

Trusts you to work with him? Are you serious? He's playing with you, don't you see that? I'm sorry Gwen but I am going to report this back to Jack. He'll know what to do.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood

Well I thought better of you, Gwen. If this is the sort of thing you get up to in your spare time perhaps Jack was wrong about you from the beginning.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 10, 2013, 07:43:25 am
No one at Torchwood is perfect, are they, Tosh- not even Jack. Go ahead, tell him. I know he was right about one thing, bringing me in so I could be the middle ground between weird stuff we have to encounter and normal everyday life. I don't think I'm any better than anyone else here, but I can still do the job.

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: JohnHart on January 10, 2013, 04:50:41 pm
Sort it out Gwen! I'm not having you mess this up for us because you can't keep your friends in line. Get her off the comms. NOW!!!

Title: Re: Encounter at Torchwood
Post by: Gwen Cooper on January 17, 2013, 06:28:09 am
*switches off comm* s'pose Jack can make his own rules but I'm not allowed to? Guess that's what being on my own gets me, being caught between tough decisions.

Yes, go on, let's go. Far be it from me to keep from seeing things through. Nothing on my radar screen as of yet.
