1  Travels In Time And Space / Night Terrors / Re: Poll: Rate & Review Night Terrors on: September 05, 2011, 10:54:17 am
Good - Really enjoyed the monsters in this, and the setting of the doll house.
Matt Smith was GREAT as usual, and some good Rory lines
The council flat setting was good, visually

Bad -   Recycled plot from Fear Her, with a resolution pretty much identical to Empty Child (and the                dolls creepy voices reminded me of that, too.)
For a show based on an emotional resolution, this fell flat. The father was having trouble with his rent, and I feel this had a big part on the childs fears. Yet there is no resolution to this. Gatiss used the setting for its look, rather than looking at the social side to it. So the tennants are left with the terrible, potentially dangerous landlord. I would have liked some comeuppance for him which would lead to the position of the family and the old women being better by the end of the story.
Got really fed up of shots of the child looking round his room scared. We got the point after one of these shots, we didn't need like 5.
2  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: No Series in 2012?? on: June 15, 2011, 12:58:33 pm
From the Moff's mouth:

'Dr Who: misquotes and misunderstandings. But I'm not being bounced into announcing the cool stuff before we're ready. Hush, and patience.'

I'm sure this is going to end up being something cool. I think the key here is the date 23rd November 2013. The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and a Saturday. As it stands, Doctor Who wouldn't be scheduled to air this date. I think this is all related to that.
3  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: No Series in 2012?? on: June 15, 2011, 10:41:13 am
I'm also guessing that this will be a split series across 2012-2013, which would also mean the start of the next series in the latter half of 2013. Waiting will be lame, but we all know doctor who should be on when it is dark outside!

One big implication would be, given Moffat's love for cliffhangers, the Christmas specials would most likely become epic conclusions to the half series cliffhangers rather than romps.

We really need a statement clearing this up!

I think it will all end up getting rewritten, but if the character really is called Mels it seems likely it will be Melody!

They actually don't let you in unless you have a child with you! This company is great too, I saw some snippets of a past show they did (again, wasn't able to take part without a child) and I was actually thinking it reminded me of Doctor Who as they had to explore Manchester City Hall and there were monsters and strange creatures about and they had to solve a mystery of some kind.

7  Travels In Time And Space / A Good Man Goes To War / Re: The Skeleton Hand on: June 07, 2011, 10:44:08 am
I'm guessing it just acted as a reminder that a version of the Doctor is dead.
8  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: Predicting the future on: June 06, 2011, 09:40:25 am
My prediction concerns the question of why the cleric army is fighting against the Doctor, and why they wanted a time child 'weapon'.

The Silence get other people to do their work for them. Are they controlling the Clerics? Do they want a weapon to get back at the Doctor for their defeat?

Jeennnnnny  Cheesy  Azn !!!!

If it is the Doctor's daughter, she has had a VERY successful regeneration and seems to have become a bad ass!
10  Travels In Time And Space / A Good Man Goes To War / Re: Spoilery Promo Pics on: May 31, 2011, 10:04:23 am
Man, Jenny is GORGEOUS. I haven't had a thing for any of the companions/main characters in the post 2005 run, but from only a few promo pics I am blown away by Jenny. So interested in what her character will be like
(I'm hearing she might be married/in a relationship with the female Silurian?!)
and what her role will be in the rest of the series. For one, I can buy her being the Doctor's Daughter as I think using the name Jenny (instead of even Jennifer/Jen) is too much of a tease.

I love how it seems this episode is introducing so many new characters, characters that I hope will have a continued presence.
Many criticised the Silurian design, but if we have Silurians as recurring characters (which would make sense as it was heavily suggested they populate a large portion of the earth in the future) we can really see the more human design paying off bigtime. The re-use of enemies in ambiguous roles is great for me, as it makes the DW universe seem so much more 'lived in' - although I admit its a shame they have to use stock characters due to budget, but still good to see.
We also have the mysterious Omega army, the hooded wraiths, eye patch lady and an increased role for Big Blue. In my book, the world of Doctor Who just got a whole lot bigger and I would love these characters to have a consistent presence for the next few series.
11  Travels In Time And Space / The Almost People / Re: The Doctor Knows on: May 31, 2011, 09:33:13 am
Hey there, this is all a bit new to me, but it seems glaringly obvious that there is a direct link between the flesh and their human counterparts right up until the power surge. The humans are directly in control of them "like a forklift truck". When Amy's ganger is "decommissioned" by the Doctor the link is severed and she goes back to her real body, hence the sudden awakening and the previous visions of the eye-patch woman. Amy's mind has been in the ganger all along so she will still have all those memories, because her mind was there even if her body wasn't.

Exactly, so sick of a wide variety of people saying this episode was bad because the Doctor killed a Ganger after saying how sacred they are. The replica Amy was not a proper Ganger as the flesh was only being kept active from the connection to Amy. Without that connection, it reverted back to the flesh. What was the Doctor meant to do, never break the link and leave the (pregnant) Amy to her fate?
12  Travels In Time And Space / The Rebel Flesh / Re: Are We Being Treated Like Idiots? on: May 25, 2011, 05:25:55 pm
I think it's just more a case of in terms of story, the cracks were meant to be everywhere - hence why they popped up everywhere and everytime the doctor arrived at. Otherwise it would have been a case of someone just saying "they are everywhere" - it is better to show than tell.

For eye-patch lady the same is true. She must be looking in on Amy all the time (through an alternative universe or some other device) so it makes sense that she keeps doing it - otherwise Amy would just say "oh yeah, that one time there was a lady looking at me" and it wouldn't have much of an effect or come across as very important.
13  Travels In Time And Space / The Rebel Flesh / Re: The Snowglobe on: May 25, 2011, 11:35:28 am
I just thought it was a 'Doctor using random gadget for scientific pruposes' gag, but perhaps there will be an explination.

I'm more concerned about the workers cold (he kept sneezing), dreading an ending being that the Gangers all die due as they don't have proper immune systems. Hopefully it will just be used to tell the two characters apart.
14  Travels In Time And Space / The Rebel Flesh / Re: A Darker Tone for Season 6 on: May 25, 2011, 11:31:07 am
The Rebel Flesh is no darker than Satan pit, really. I just think that the much more lighter elements (new earth, etc) have been removed. This has mostly been successful I think. The Doctor's Wife was very whimsical but managed to still have a more serious tone than the lighter Tennant era eps. The Curse of the Black Spot, however, seemed to have a lot of the elements of the more silly past episodes, but was presented as a serious episode. This wasn't a good mix for me, and I hope that if they want to do a 'romp' episode they should allow the tone to match the subject matter.
15  Travels In Time And Space / The Rebel Flesh / Re: The Doctors Death on: May 25, 2011, 11:25:55 am
My theory - The Doctor dies in episode one. The clone lives as the 'new' Doctor (for now...!!!)

I just can't imagine the Doctor, or even Rory would allow the Ganger Doctor go off to die to save the 'real' Doctor. I imagine if the Doctor had to face something, he would face it himself.
16  Travels In Time And Space / The Rebel Flesh / Re: The Eye Patch Woman on: May 25, 2011, 11:23:55 am
I would put money on this being explained in the next episode, like the crack was exposed (...sorry) in the second Angel episode last series.
