1  Fanatical For Who / Appreciation Threads / Re: River Love on: June 02, 2011, 04:42:57 am
Well next time he'll have to go for it, or else he'll change her past...  Clearly this is something they've done many times, even the last time she saw him, so the next time he sees her there ought to be a decent snog.  Gotta keep those timelines intact ya know!   Afro

Speaking of fan vids, this one's a winner - love it!!

There are no words for how much I love this video! Gah, I cannot wait until Matturday! Bring on The Doctor/River lovin'! (Hopefully we get another smooch! Or better...)

3  Travels In Time And Space / Mission To The Unknown / Re: Excuses to miss my cousins wedding to watch the Gaiman Episode on: May 08, 2011, 08:59:52 pm
I'd think a sibling's wedding is much harder to miss than a cousin's wedding. Also, are you on really good terms with this brother/cousin? How easily would he know you're lying?

You might want to tip them off a few days in advance. I'd lean towards sickness, because you can work up to it wiht dropping some hints about feeling sick before the actual wedding. Stomach flu is always good, because nobody can prove that you didn't throw up when they weren't around and/or aren't feeling nauseaus even when they are. And since nobody wants to clean up vomit (especially at a fancy momentous event like a wedding), it's a fairly good excuse that people will accept. (I feel like I'm way too familiar with this particular course of action now that I've written out the steps that need to be taken. Not that I've skipped someone's wedding, but, you know, maybe school in years gone by.)

I can't stop watching them rotating back to back. Someone on Tumblr joked about it being a "Time Lord mating ritual" which made me laugh so hard and now I can't watch that scene without thinking that.  Grin

And it's so nice to see him openly flirting with her. Their flirting was the highlight of the episode for me. (Well, that and the moment when the kissed and he kissed her back and started to grab her arm until she moved her hands to his waist and made him get a little jumpy again. lol) I'm so excited to see the fan vids that begin emerging after this episode.
5  Travels In Time And Space / Day Of The Moon / Re: Should we pity Rory? on: May 01, 2011, 07:34:02 am
Do you think Rory believed her when she said she was talking about him?  I still think she was talking about the Doctor.  Since when is "dropped out of the sky" a figure of speech?

It's a figure of speech where I come from, but of all the figures of speech to use...that one? Seriously? Granted, she didn't know the boys were listening, but still. Makes me wonder how she met Rory and why she would choose that figure of speech.
6  Travels In Time And Space / Day Of The Moon / Re: That Kiss on: May 01, 2011, 01:12:30 am
I loved it, as tragic as River's face was afterwards. Didn't go exactly how I thought, but it was brilliant nontheless! I'm still reeling from the fact that he asked her to go with them before it happened.

I also take comfort in the fact that River only thinks this is her last kiss, just as she only thinks they are going in reverse order. The latter makes no logical sense, it's only an overall trend, and I'm sure that when he takes her to the Singing Towers, he'll make sure to kiss her then too, so I don't for a second think this will be her last kiss with him. (And I'm beyond thrilled to know that this is the first of many kisses he will have with her.  Wink)
7  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: A difficult time in Fandom...Or not? on: April 30, 2011, 12:04:15 pm
I'm an impatient spoiler junkie and it can sometimes be hard for me to understand how people like to be surprised, but I have to say, I was a little shocked by the amount of spoilerage that the BBC released on the website, what with the spoiler pics and whatnot. I can see how some people might have not wanted to see them. Me, I'm the opposite: I'd rather know every detail of the whole episode beforehand and it actually enhances my enjoyment of the show (or prepares me for things I won't like, so I'm not devestated when they happen).

So I soaked in all the spoilers I could for TIA and when it aired, I loved it. I think it's probably my favorite episode to date. And the complicated timey wimey-ness was no problem. In fact, I've rewatched it twice so far and realized it was so much more dense than I thought watching it the first time. I keep picking up new things I missed each time I rewatch it, despite the spoilers and previous viewings. I think that's a good thing. It shows how layered and cleverly written it was. And I think it's meant to be something you need to rewatch, because Moffat is so good at weaving things in that you won't understand until the end and that makes you want to come back and rewatch.

It was a cricket ball, for obvious reasons  Wink

Huh? What's the significance of a cricket ball? Sorry, I'm not involved with sports/physical activity/anything of the like, so it's not obvious to me at all.

Georgia rocks.

Couldn't agree more!  Cool
15  Travels In Time And Space / The Hub / Re: Torchwood and the Whoniverse on: April 29, 2011, 04:39:15 am
I definitely think that Jack will be without his vortex manipulator, because his was the wrist that River got her VM from, and that will be the connection between the two shows.

Although, Moffat does seem like he might like to bring Jack back for a cameo at some point, if John was available. He admitted as much in a recent interview.
16  Travels In Time And Space / The Hub / Re: POLL: Who is your favourite team member? on: April 29, 2011, 04:35:24 am
I could never stand Owen and although I was indifferent from the start with Gwen (I watched TW:CoE first, then the first two seasons in order), I began to increasingly hate Gwen. Martha was great when she appeared, I hated Suzie when she was brought back, and the others I never cared about.

I already loved Jack from DW and my love remained in TW (despite that I can't stand the Jack/Gwen foreshadowing), but I think my favorite's gotta be Tosh. I just adored her. She's so epic and so awesome and always, always got the short end of the stick, especially with love. Her and Tommy are still a TW OTP of mine.
17  Travels In Time And Space / The Hub / Re: Which characters death affected you the most? on: April 29, 2011, 04:26:24 am

I loved Tosh, but never liked Owen (in fact I often hated him) and while I liked Ianto, I never loved him as much as I loved Tosh. Jack's grandson's death and Tommy's death were also ones that were really sad, but I was far more invested in Tosh's character, so hers affected me more deeply than theirs did.
18  Travels In Time And Space / Inside The Attic / Re: What Should Happen With SJA Now? on: April 29, 2011, 04:13:31 am
I don't think the show should be carried on without Sarah-Jane. That would be very disrespectful, IMO. I can understand why some people wouldn't want to have SJ's death handled on screen, but in the same token, it's The Doctor that lives on, while the companions do pass away, and I can also see how that would be a good - though sad - lesson for the young fans of the show.

Also, I'm sure the CBBC will want to keep the child audience they've developed with the SJA, but I can't see how they'd do a realistic spinoff with the remaining characters of Rani and Clyde unless they do recognize SJ's death. So if they don't do a spinoff of the SJA, then I could possibly see them doing a Jenny spinoff to fill the void (not the void of Lis Sladen's death or her show, as that can never be filled), but the void of the timeslot to keep the audience. They may or may not be able to work in Rani and Clyde. I've seen some people suggest Jenny crashing to Earth, although she was left in (I think) the 61st Century without time travel technology, so they'd have to work a way around that. (But it's sci-fi, so I don't think it'd be too hard.) They'd still have to address Sarah-Jane's absence though, so IDK.  Undecided

As Roranicus has said, the good thing (series wise) is that a finale was made, so the series can be actually rounded out as apposed to just stopping it short.

I had heard that the finale was shot, but I hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger (especially a bad cliffhanger), because that would be a really unsettling series finale. If the finale ends on a happy note for SJ, then I'd be completely fine with that being the series finale and not needing to address her death in the show.
19  Fanatical For Who / Appreciation Threads / Re: River Love on: April 29, 2011, 03:48:50 am
Where does she get all that stuff anyway - guns, clothes, equipment - if she's in prison?  Which also raises the point - if she can escape any time she wants, then why does she stay?

That's another part of her character that I like: she's very intricate. I think she stays because she does feel personal regret for whatever she did and feels that she deserves to be punished for it, but that doesn't stop her from leaving if she's needed elsewhere and/or by The Doctor. But then she goes back, to finish the rest of her sentence. (I think she probably went back at the end of TBB and hid the vortex manipulator in her cell, which was how she was able to leave after getting her letter in TIA.) And of course, if my speculation is right, then she could have a house/condo/apartment/secret someplace where she has all of her stuff that she'd need access to when and if she does need to escape the Stormcage.
20  Travels In Time And Space / Mission To The Unknown / Re: Is It Time For New Companions? on: April 29, 2011, 02:23:47 am
I think Amy and Rory are brilliant companions and it'll be sad to see them go, but I wouldn't mind if their time came to an end this season. (With guest appearances in future seasons.)

And I'd really like for River to finally step in as a full time companion in season seven and maybe eight as well. I think she'll be around as long as Moffat is around and most certainly into the era of the Twelfth Doctor, but I think she can be a full time companion and then go back to being a recurring companion at different points in her life, which would completely fit with their timey wimey-ness.

I'd also like to see Jenny come back (which probably won't be for a while, since Georgia just had a baby) after River's time as a full time companion. Perhaps even overlap, so step-daughter Jenny and step-mom River have a chance to meet get into trouble much to The Doctor's dismay. She would also be the perfect companion to help him cope after he drops River off after taking her to the Singing Towers, because that will surely be a devestating day for him.
