41  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: Doctor Who: New Movie on: December 13, 2011, 02:34:05 pm
The new canon could be fantastic is why Tongue  The Who brand was chugging along quite nicely in 2004, and they took a g a m b l e (Being *** out without the spaces :s) and rebooted it for the new series.  I'm bloody glad they did Cheesy

Until we know *anything* about the script, who is cast, where it's set, etc, why do Who fans have to hate their favourite show continuing to grow in popularity Sad
42  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: Doctor Who: New Movie on: December 13, 2011, 02:27:13 pm
Not really. If it has the current Doctor in it then it could be just like a big screen episode of the main show. Even if it was set in a different era with a different companion it could still be an extension of the main show. The only way I think canon would be messed up is if they go against what we already know in the show or cast a new Doctor entirely.

That would only work if the current TV team took a year or more out in order to make it thou.  I'd much rather keep the show exactly the way it is and have the film as an extra.  Canon would be completely messed up unless both teams were in constant contact with each other, the logistics of that would be a complete nightmare, and stifle both parties wanting to tell their own story.  Would be much easy to have both separate.

A film would only mean less of the TV show, so I really hope it is just rumours that come to nothing. Why have a 120 minute film when you can have a 600 minute season.

How so, I don't understand why Yates making a film from scratch would mean less TV show?

Congrats on MotM <3

Ahh, gotcha, cheers for clearing that up Cheesy

I don't see how films could run in canon with the show, it would mean taking the show off air in order to do.  I'd rather have two different canons running at the same time, otherwise there would be soooooo many little issues that fans notice  Grin
44  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: Doctor Who: New Movie on: December 13, 2011, 11:41:49 am
I'm excited by the thought of Who running as films, the only way I can see this not working is if they try to mix canons up.  For it to work it has to be a start from the beginning again imo, would be great to get some take on his background on Gallifrey and how he stole the TARDIS.  We could have a new doc every film, would really shake the industry up I think.

I honestly don't think this is the BBC stunt, Tranter is head of BBC America in LA for a start, and was instrumental in getting it back on the screen in 2005.  With her behind this film idea we really could be looking at it getting the go ahead.

Secondly, Moff/DWM/etc obviously had NO IDEA about this after Yates first interview on the subject.  Moff's denial tweet about how it was an off the cuff comment on the red carpet is so far off the mark it's farcical.  It was in Variety, which ain't a tatty tabloid, it's an industry driven magazine that only prints certainty's not gossip, lol.

Seems like I'm in the minority over here, but I personally can't wait to see what they come up with.  Until we get an idea of what the script is like or who is cast, I am going to remain optimistic Tongue
45  Fanatical For Who / The Web Of Fear / Vote for Moffat on: December 13, 2011, 11:09:52 am
We've managed to get a Who episode nominated over at the SpoilerTV awards, this is fantastic as American shows are usually the most popular over there.  Any clicks for Moff's episode Let's Kill Hitler would be gratefully appreciated, thou personally I don't feel it's his best writing it would be fantastic to get a good result for a Brit show over there.

46  Travels In Time And Space / Closing Time / Re: Poll: Rate & Review Closing Time on: September 25, 2011, 01:12:44 pm
4/5 for me.. Great start, fantastic teaser ending but sagged a bit in the middle for me (TWSS, I know Tongue ).
47  Travels In Time And Space / Torchwood: Miracle Day / Re: Rex Matheson on: September 01, 2011, 05:04:48 pm
I dislike him, he seems to be a stereotypical, brash American idjit.  How on earth he managed to have Vera like him enough to bed him is beyond me, he was nothing but a jerk to her.  It felt like it was shoehorned in to make her death seem more tragic through him, but he just didn't sell that on screen for me Sad

A 5 from me, absolutely loved it Cheesy

Isn't it Queste? Tongue I think I read the first 4 or 5 but never persevered with the rest, didn't find them that great.

Trust you to pick up on it Tongue  Yes it's Queste, was in a hurry before heading out for dinner at a mates house last night, lol.

It's the 4th one of 6 (so far, I think 7 is the plan), and I much prefer them to the Harry Potter series both plot wise and narrative Afro  The first one, Magyk, is currently in pre production with WB; they bought the rights 4-5 years ago but wanted the Potter films all outta the way before they started on them, lol.
51  Travels In Time And Space / Torchwood: Miracle Day / Re: Rate & Review Episode 2: Rendition on: July 20, 2011, 12:17:03 am
The antidote was just ridiculous, we've strayed into fantasy world here if arbitrarily slinging those ingredients together would ever work, or have such a quick effect.

You mean like the way 10 counteracted being poisoned in The Unicorn & the Wasp? Evil

i get what you mean though, some scenes it's like they can't decide if they want to be 24 or not.

Haven't seen that episode since it aired, probably for this very reason Grin

Quest, the forth Septimus Heap book by Angie Sage, I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett and Shakespeare: The World as Stage by Bill Bryson.

I never read just one book at a time :O

Like I posted on the main site, I don't get why all this outrage.  It's only a few of the over gratuitous shots from the scene that have been cut, we still see them have sex (and even get a Jack bum shot) so this anti homophobia hyperbole ranting is starting to get on my nerves Roll Eyes
55  Travels In Time And Space / Torchwood: Miracle Day / Re: Rate & Review Episode 2: Rendition on: July 19, 2011, 04:03:40 pm
I wasn't too impressed, the whole plane part was just stupid Shocked  Why try and kill him in the air, all it did was warn Gwen and Rex that something was up.  The antidote was just ridiculous, we've strayed into fantasy world here if arbitrarily slinging those ingredients together would ever work, or have such a quick effect.  Plus, Jack dies all the time so I don't see that we've established his mortality here.  He dies, and then comes back to life because he is a fixed point in time, or has that lore been completely retconned for MD?? lol

I'm finding it hard to keep my interest going for the season so far, but I'm hoping Espenson's episode next week will change that.

I've been enjoying it, thou it took me a while to get used to the pacing of the show and remembering who is who Grin  Tyrion, Ayra and Dany are my favourite characters by a long way, and I love to hate Joffrey and his bride to be (Sania, or something?).

I have to be honest and say I don't see why the ending of the last episode is such a shock to many.  With this being a series of books it's fairly obvious that the main story is about the younger generations lives more than the elder members of the families.  I had been expecting it to happen for the last two episode at least, and it was done in such a way that both Stark daughters will remember this for the rest of their lives.  The way these two in particular will react in the long term is something I look forward to Afro

Hey there DD Cheesy

Yeah, I'm split on the prospect but I so want it to be true that I can't help getting excited.  TP has been my favourite author for more than 20 years  Grin

A few interesting tweets from Terry Pratchett:

A meeting of minds with gentlemen we cannot mention about a project we cannot discuss. However, a good day all round.

No! No! We absolutely 100% did not meet @steven_moffat today. But now we've denied it...

Quote
We reiterate; we DID NOT meet or talk to or phone or Skype or send letters or emails or carrier pigeons to @steven_moffat

Further more, our people are not talking to @steven_moffat people, okay?? Seriously

I so want this to be true......
