1  The Doctor In The TARDIS Help Centre / The TARDIS Help Desk / Quoting Posts on: January 10, 2013, 01:29:59 am
Hi guys,

I've been having some troubles this morning quoting posts from other users. Sometimes it seems to work but then other times nothing is happening. I don't mean the quote isn't appearing, but more that when I hover over the button the cursor doesn't change so I can't click it to make the quote embed in my post.

Is it just an issue my end or is it a fault on the boards?

Scott

Dude, you have a great talent. I'm surprised more people haven't commented on how good you are. That last picture with Eleven and the Angel is fantastic. If you have more you should upload them. I'd love to see!

I like this. A lot, actually. It has a really nice balance. It's light, which I like, with some nice touches of humour, but it's also dark. But subtle dark, not 'look how dark I can get' which you get in a lot of writing, both professional and in fanfic. It is also an ocean of emotion. Bit of rhyming, there. The Doctors mind, I would imagine, would be a terrifying place to be, but rather than try and lay it all out and explain it, you highlight the stuff that's needed for the story and leave the rest in mystery, which I like. Some people like having an entire story laid out for them. Others, like myself, like to have a certain level of mystery left in place. I think the story would still have been good, but perhaps less interesting, if you had given us a roadmap of everything he was thinking and feeling and exactly why and how we were at this place. Handled differently, that could have been a question that needed to be answered, but instead it's been left to us to work that bit out. That's how I saw it, anyway. Great story.

I'm not sure about the ending. Bowties most definitely are cool, but within such a small story and with such little context I have no idea why he would say that. Does it make sense because of the personality of the person he is saying it to? Is it an in-joke? It feels like there is more to it that we aren't being told. This would make a brilliant prologue or teaser to a larger story, I think.

I agree with the above. You have a good writing style but I want more. There was enough in this snippet to make me wonder about further stories, either beyond what we already have or by developing what is described within. That's a positive though. To have us wanting more.

I agree with above. It's nice to see something with Martha in. You've written a neat little story there Smiley
7  Fanatical For Who / The Arc Of Infinity / Re: RTD VS Moff on: January 10, 2013, 12:52:02 am
This really is a tough one because they are both so different in their writing and approach to running the show. Totally different. I like them both, but for very different reasons. In the end I chose RTD, but I've no real reason for why other than the fact that he stands out to me more than Moff when I'm trying to decide. I think both are great though.

Could I be any more on the fence? Grin
8  Fanatical For Who / The Arc Of Infinity / Re: The 50th Anniversary on: January 10, 2013, 12:49:54 am
I want it to be an absolute jumble sale of Doctor Who-ness where everything is thrown on the table and nothing makes sense, but it somehow works. I won't be happy with a standard story. I want as much as humanly possible thrown in.
9  Fanatical For Who / The Arc Of Infinity / Re: Best Regeneration Story on: January 10, 2013, 12:48:14 am
Parting of the Ways and Planet of the Spiders are two of the best, imo, but I could only choose one and the latter got the honour.
10  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Re: General Spoilery Discussion for Series 7 & onwards on: January 10, 2013, 12:45:54 am
I've just read through it. It's handy because there are so many pages on here to look through and I'd have probably given up. Didn't there used to be another thread that just had the posts with spoilers in it? Some cool stuff there though I never knew about. I'm really excited to see what Gaiman does with the Cybermen. And I'm really excited for the Submarine episode, which is odd because I am not a fan of Gatiss' writing. I just hope we get the Ice Warriors back.

Also, if the later stories are full cast adventures, won't that be a first for the new era Doctors?
12  76 Totter's Lane / The Sound Of Drums / Re: Destiny Of The Doctor on: January 10, 2013, 12:31:31 am
I really want to get these. The first two sound great and I bet the rest will be awesome.
13  Travels In Time And Space / The Hub / Re: Indefinite Hiatus on: January 10, 2013, 12:30:37 am
I'd definitely like to see the show make a return, but the story and characters have to be stronger than what we got in series 4. To be honest, I really wouldn't mind them going back to the story of the week format. I'd rather that until they can give us another COE, instead of putting out a not so great season long story.
14  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Mr Chinn's Top Ten Companions on: January 10, 2013, 12:27:44 am
Dodo wouldn't have made my list, but not because she is bad, but rather because she doesn't have a lot going for her. She was never fiesty or dramatic or brave. She was just along for the ride. I liked her, but I want more from a companion.
15  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Twisted-Sister's Top Ten Baddies on: January 10, 2013, 12:25:39 am
A great start. Because there are so many now iconic baddies that have only had one outing I would have totally overlooked the Vashta Nerada, but now that it's pointed out it seems so obvious and I think I would definitely include them on my list.

I agree with this. I don't think that they are forgettable, as such, but with so many strong candidates it is easy to overlook. They are great though.
16  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: The Top 50 At 50 on: January 10, 2013, 12:19:28 am
Two great choices for inclusion there. Despite its mixed reviews, VotD has been one of my favourite NuWho stories and TKoM is an absolute classic.
17  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Peri-Peri's Top Ten Funny Bits on: January 10, 2013, 12:11:44 am
I absolutely love this scene and, sad as it sounds, look forward to it every time I watch. Despite the fact I know it's coming it doesn't get any less funny.
18  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: The Top Ten Of Everything on: January 10, 2013, 12:10:33 am
I think this is a great idea. I won't start one myself because I am on too infrequently and it will take forever to finish, but I think the ones that are listed so far are great.
19  Travels In Time And Space / Logopolis / Re: The Master on: January 10, 2013, 12:08:55 am
I love Ainleys take on the Master. I won't deny he can get a bit over the top and even hammy at times, but when he is on form he is brilliant.
20  Travels In Time And Space / Logopolis / Re: Tegan Jovanka in Logopolis on: January 10, 2013, 12:07:03 am
I remember hearing her say on one of the bonus features how she was written and played as a typical Aussie, but that is so far from the truth. Despite the moaning, I don't dislike the character. When she was given something meaty to do, like in the Mara stories, she was actually really good. It's just those times when there wasn't much happening that they resorted to having her moaning and after a while it gets a bit much.
