I'm certain they will be back. Though I think sometimes a big reveal is good, I think this is something that should be promoted so I hope if they are returning that we get some promo for it.

I don't mind what's in it, but I want it to be a standalone special. I don't want it to be linked in to one of Moffs arcs. I think if that happens it will feel like an extension of the main series instead of a special event.

Whichever show it is for, it's odd that they would do a telephone interview for something on TV.

Tenth Place

Rise of the Cybermen/The Age Of Steel

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed when I didn't get to see the Cybermen return in the first series. I suppose the priority was always going to be about getting the Daleks back on screen though. When it finally did happen in series 2 I wasn't exactly over the moon.

It's sort of hard to be subjective here. I love the story. I think we were given a great plot with some excellent characters, but these aren't the Cybermen that I loved and that took some getting used to. I didn't mind the redesign. They have had so many over the years that there isn't exactly a definitive look. I think their heads are a bit small compared to the rest of them, but I like it all the same.

The main reason though that this is at the bottom end of my list is simply because of the disappointment with the Cybus idea. I watch later stories and just pretend Cybus has nothing to do with them being here, but in this story you can't escape from it. There really was no need for the change in backstory.

I love the Cybermen. A lot! I wanted to get in on the action and this was the first list that came to mind. I think it will be a pretty straightforward list with stories from both the classic and new runs of the show. I'm not sure how often I will update it, but there won't be enormous gaps in between. I look forward to hearing what you all think Smiley

The whole second half of that episode is just so sad. I was gutted when I found out he was leaving. I loved his Doctor and I wanted more from him. I think his speech directly before he regenerated is the saddest part though.

My opinion on this story is pretty split. There are some excellent things going on and the Cybermen are used really well. I even like what happens to Miss Hartigan, I just don't like the giant Cyber thing at the end. I think it really weakens the story.

Dead of Winter is one of the few novels from the series that I have read. I've found that the ones involving classic Doctors are generally better though. That story isn't bad by a long shot, it just felt aimed towards a younger audience.
51  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Twisted-Sister's Top Ten Baddies on: January 19, 2013, 05:06:30 pm
This is a great choice for the list. I think the Vashta Nerada worked wonderfully in this story and really upped the creepiness.
52  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Peri-Peri's Top Ten Funny Bits on: January 19, 2013, 05:05:17 pm
This is just one of smoe brilliantly funny moments with the Third Doctor. I think his humour is one of the reasons I like him so much. It's subtle, but classic comedy and played for laughs rather than stupidity which we sometimes see today.

I think that's why it works so well. It's just innocent humour. Recently the humour in the show has come with a *wink wink, nudge nudge* element to it. Sometimes it's funny, other times it's lame. This is an example of great funny, innocent humour.

Gareth Roberts brought the Cybermats back. That's good enough for me for his inclusion Tongue

The Waters of Mars is fantastic. I'm certain it would be higher on my list. It was one of those stories that was really lucky to air later in the year and benefit from the dark nights. It was really crappy, I thought.

I have a Cybermat and it's absolutely brilliant. I just wish it went faster and I had more room to play around with it.
56  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Aneurin's Top Ten Companion Departures on: January 19, 2013, 04:52:53 pm
Jo leaving was a killer. I liked her so much and even though I knew she wasn't going to be around for ever when I finally got to her departure I hated that she was going.

Mel on the other hand didn't have much of a farewell and the one she got was bizarre to say the least. The worst part of it though is when Ace jumps up and shouts 'Ace'. It's so forced and horrible to watch. The thought of that is far worse than Mels departure.
57  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Tardis-Console's Top Ten Third Doctor Stories on: January 19, 2013, 04:48:01 pm
Both of those stories are good and I agree that Ambassadors is better that Axos, but I don't know if either would have made my top ten. Pertwee had come absolutely amazing stories that I think better represented his Doctor and his era.
58  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Mr Chinn's Top Ten Companions on: January 19, 2013, 04:33:41 pm
I really love both of them, but I don't think either would have made my top ten list. Not because they are bad, but because others are better imo
59  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: The Top 50 At 50 on: January 19, 2013, 04:32:51 pm
I think the Curse of Peladon is great. Its a fun story with some really interesting characters. How you're managing to choose just 50 and then order them is beyond me. I'd never be able to. I love too many.
60  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Exterminate's Top Ten Dalek Stories on: January 19, 2013, 04:31:36 pm
I've never been a huge fan of the Daleks. Some of their stories are great but as villains I find them a tad overrated. The Chase is a great story because it breaks from form, but DttD isn't one of my favourites.
