22  76 Totter's Lane / Silence In The Library / Re: Titan Comic's Doctor Who Series on: February 24, 2016, 03:30:51 pm
For all the DW stuff that I collect, comics have never really played a bit part in it. I have, however, read such good things about these that I'd be tempted to dive in. I need to find someone to lend me a copy so I can see for myself if it's worth it, because if I buy it and I don't like it I will have to continue anyway because I'm such a completist.
23  76 Totter's Lane / The Little Shop / Lack Of New Wave Merchandise on: February 24, 2016, 03:28:14 pm
Over the last two years there is a lot less merchandise hitting the shelves, and a lot of what is coming out is repackages versions of old items.

I've read some theories that this is down to Capaldi's age, with many stockists and makers feeling that the older Doctor just won't appeal to the younger generation of collectors, while others have stated that they think the lower ratings mean there is less demand.

What do you think? Are they missing a trick by not promoting more merchandise, or do we have enough already?
24  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / A Female Doctor on: February 24, 2016, 01:29:09 pm
There's always lots of talk and speculation for it, and with a new showrunner and possibly a new Doctor on the way, do you think it's time, or likely, that we will see a female in the role?

Personally I don't want to. I don't like the idea of gender swapping the Doctor, or other characters for that matter. I love Missy, but she's just not the Master to me. I see them both as male roles and while we have seen that they don't have to be, I think they should continue to be.

Thoughts?
25  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / Is Capaldi Leaving With Moff? on: February 24, 2016, 01:27:11 pm
By the time Moffat leaves Capaldi will have completed 3 full seasons, like Ten and Eleven, and the new showrunner will likely want to bring in some new blood, so do you think Capaldi will regenerate or do you think he will buck the trend and stay on a bit longer (assuming Chibnall wants to keep him around)?
26  Travels In Time And Space / The Crusade / ByeBye Moffat, Hello Chibnall on: February 24, 2016, 01:25:41 pm
We all knew the day would come. Some are probably happier than others. It's been known for a while now, so the news has had plenty of time to sink in. What do we think about the new head of the show?

I have to admit, I've fallen out of love with the show a bit in the last 2 years. I'm glad to see Moffat go as I think his best stories are behind him and he's done bringing anything new and of real quality to the show now. He's amazing, but he's no longer fresh.

Chibnall is marmite to fandom, it seems, but I've really liked his stories for the most part and I am excited to see what he does with the show.

And I'm just glad it's not Gatiss.

Hello!

Wow it's echoey and dusty in here. Guess I'm not the only one who hasn't been around in a while. Life just got in the way and it's been a long while since I remembered to swing by. Would be great to see this place come to life again though.

I'm going to stay logged in for an hour or two. Post some things. Maybe if anyone gets post notifications they can come join in?

If not, when you come back next, hi. I've missed you all and the fun chats we had Cheesy

Q is for...

Quantum Lock

Quantum-locking was a defence mechanism used by the Weeping Angels. When observed by any living creature (even other Weeping Angels) the Weeping Angels turned to stone, making them resistant to harm. When they weren't being observed, the Weeping Angels could move. Weeping Angels could also turn to stone at will, or when they believed they were being observed. However if the Weeping Angels stared at each other they would turn to stone permanently, leaving them trapped until they died from starvation.

38  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: The Cyber Mistress's Top Ten Cybermen Stories on: September 13, 2013, 10:47:50 am
The Wheel in Space is one of my favourite Cybermen stories. It's not generally featured amongst the best, but I think it's a lot of fun.
39  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Roranicus' Top Ten Companions Thread on: September 13, 2013, 10:46:50 am
Nyssa is hit and miss for me. Sometimes the acting gets very ropey which is distracting, but mostly I find it a huge shame that with such a rich back story and introduction to the show, that it was left largely ignored and she ended up with little to do.
40  Fanatical For Who / The Top Ten Of Everything / Re: Tardis-Console's Top Ten Third Doctor Stories on: September 13, 2013, 10:45:18 am
I like The Mutants, but it's not really one I go back to very often. I think as good as the story is, it's let down by how bad it looks. I'm not certain it would have made my list.
