21  Travels In Time And Space / Hide / Re: Rate & Review Hide on: September 12, 2013, 11:35:01 am
I've given this 4/5. Had it not been for the slightly naff ending I'd have probably given it full marks. For the most part I enjoyed it and it was one of the stronger stories of the second half of the season.

Cool. I'm in Smiley
23  Travels In Time And Space / The Lodger / Re: The Ratings for The Lodger on: September 12, 2013, 11:32:25 am
That would explain a lot then I guess. Though why anyone would choose football over Doctor Who is alien to me!
24  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Sutekh! on: September 12, 2013, 11:30:49 am
Sutekh, for me, is one of the scariest villains I have seen in the classic run. His voice, lack of movements, the evil of him, it was all really creepy and I loved it. It's another one of the reasons I think this story is so strong. He's just brilliant and definitely someone I think the Doctor should go up against again.

A thread for the discussion of this weeks baddie Smiley

26  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Scarman/Sutekh Confusion on: September 12, 2013, 11:28:03 am
It's left sort of ambiguous (possibly for the chance to see the character return), but I was left a little confused by what happened towards the end.

When the Eye of Horus is destroyed, Scarman says something along the lines of 'I'm free at last'.

But was it Scarman saying this? I wasn't so sure. After having been released it would make sense, but I got the feeling that it was Sutekh saying it through him?

But it's not clear. Thoughts?
27  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: The Ratings for Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:23:06 am
Ratings are way higher than I'd have expected. Shows would kill for 10m these days so it's funny to see that at least 27 shows scored higher than that.
28  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Firsts and Lasts in Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:22:07 am
And if that doesn't count, it's the first appearance of Mars on the show.
29  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Firsts and Lasts in Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:21:44 am
It's the first classic story to get a BluRay release
30  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Random Facts About.... Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:20:33 am
This is the only story in the whole of the classic series in which Mars is depicted.
31  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Connections with Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:19:30 am
In both this and Horror of Fang Rock, everyone the Doctor and companion meets throughout the story are dead by the end of it.

Three songs were number one.

David Essex - Hold Me Close
Art Garfunkel - I Only Have Eyes For You
David Bowie - Space Oddity

34  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Sarah Jane Smith in Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:14:17 am
This is one of my favourite stories for Sarah Jane. I love the dynamic between her and the Doctor throughout. She's given plenty to do, acts well and raises a few laughs. I like her a lot in this.
35  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: The Fourth Doctor in Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:12:56 am
Absolutely brilliant. I find Tom Baker very up and down in his performances. Sometimes he acts like his life depends on it and sometimes he seems like he can barely be bothered to say the words. This was one of the occassions when he was on top form and put in a fantastic performance.

The Doctor: I shall mingle with the mummies, but I shan't linger
37  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Mistakes and Inconsistencies in Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:09:14 am
Definite inconsistency with dating here around Sarah Jane. Saying she comes from 1980 can't be right, but everything around that era is pretty messed up.
38  Travels In Time And Space / Pyramids of Mars / Re: Poll: Rate and Review Pyramids of Mars on: September 12, 2013, 11:07:11 am
I'm going with a four on this one. The plot is great, Sutekh is awesome, the characters are interesting and the whole thing keeps you hooked for the whole time. I don't even know why I didn't give it full marks. It should have been a five.
39  Travels In Time And Space / The Lodger / Re: Random Facts About.... The Lodger on: September 12, 2013, 11:03:31 am
Meglos was originally intended to be the villain of the story.
40  Travels In Time And Space / The Lodger / Meglos on: September 12, 2013, 11:02:09 am
Up until quite late in the writing stage, Gareth Roberts was going to have Meglos return and be the villain of the story. I'm not sure how that would have worked out bt would you have liked to see him return?
