The BBC Have more or less confirmed that it is being renewed. In last weeks BBC press junket about finishing phase one of the new studios in Cardiff, they announced that production on SJA is moving there in 2012.

According to what I have heard, the 3 remaining stories of series 5 will be filmed in one long block with the whole of series 6 in order to have the show finished and on the air while the move in production takes place. Its because of the move that they split last years filming, in order to accomodate this years filming, otherwise SJA would have to take a year off the air, or at least be delayed until early 2013.

Yea that's what I have heard. They won't cancel it unless Lis Sladen quits, and I would assume they would know about that quite far in advance because of contracts. It's going nowhere

That's pretty much my thinking. Ratings are far too good for them to cancel for any other reason.

It certainly will be good to have some more SJA. Series 4 left us seriously wanting more didn't it? Sadly there doesn't seem to be much news on this front at the mo Sad

Its probably nothing serious (and might not even be true) but apparantly Lis Sladen has taken ill so filming on the remainder of series 5 has been pushed back a while.

I hope that she is ok. I'd assume if true its something quite serious seeing as they have delayed filming

A friend of mine mentioned it in passing. He is a HUGE fan of SJA, more than DW or TW and does some set reporting during filming. It was only a brief chat so I didnt ask how he knew, but I can try find out Smiley

It would be good to know she's okay/that it's nothing too serious.

I'm always nervous when something like this comes to light ( by whatever means ) and there's no official stance  Undecided

I'm sure it is nothing too serious, if it is even true at all. These things often get blown up

I've heard today that the BBC still plan to go ahead with the screening of the last 6 episodes filmed before she passed away, though there is obviously no word yet on whether the show will continue

Newsround reported that they were unsure whether those episodes would still be aired, which I think would be a shame, but I suppose that there will be a while before we know anything for sure

A couple of papers are reporting today that SJA will continue on. The last three scripts of Series 5 are being rewritten to account for SJ's absense and they will then decide whether or not to continue with Series 6

Just goes to show how much the papers know. So does that mean its it then alltogether, or just that they wont be making the rest of series 5, but might carry on afterwards. It seemed a bit ambiguous
