This is the thread for discussion of the overnight ratings, the official ratings, audience share, AI, iPlayer hits and anything else to do with ratings for this episode.

The initial ratings, share and AI will be from the UK, though these may be expanded upon later to take into account figures from elsewhere in the world such as the US and Australia.

If you want to see how this episode rates in comparison to previous series, then you can find that information HERE (add link). Please feel free to discuss the ratings and share your thoughts on how well this episode is doing. For ratings relating to other episodes, please check the relevent threads.

If you need any help understanding how the ratings and AI is calculated, then feel free to ask and either a moderator or fellow member will advise you.

SFX are reporting the overnights as 5 million with a 24.4% audience share.

I'm guessing the football had an impact here so I would expect the timeshift to be quite massive  Smiley

We have 5.0m with a 24.4% share which is brilliant considering it was on against the champions league. It was still second most watched of the day and head and shoulders above everything else. As you can see, things were WAY DOWN all accross the board. Here is the top ten for the day

1 …. 7.9 (33.2%) …. UEFA Champions League Final: Barcelona v Manchester United 19:00 ITV 1
2 …. 5.0 (24.4%) …. Doctor Who 18:45 BBC One
3 …. 3.8 (14.7%) …. Casualty 20:45 BBC One
4 …. 3.3 (33.0%) …. Formula 1: The Monaco Grand Prix 12:15 BBC One
5 …. 3.3 (15.7%) …. BBC News 22:15 BBC One
6 …. 3.3 (13.3%) …. The National Lottery: Who Dares Wins 20:00 BBC One
7 …. 2.8 (15.4%) …. New Animals Do the Funniest Things 18:00 ITV 1
8 …. 2.8 (12.1%) …. John Bishop's Britain 21:45 BBC One
9 …. 2.6 (15.7%) …. So You Think You Can Dance Live 17:45 BBC One
10 … 2.4 (10.8%) …. So You Think You Can Dance Results 19:30 BBC One

This time last year, nothing in the top ten had lower than 4-5m.

EDIT: And I see PRG has already posted Smiley

This is why the Moff wants it moving to the Autumn. Watching the show last night in the darkness, it was soooooooo much better. It's all very well having a darker tone but if it is lovely and sunny outside then it is difficult to be frightened of the monsters! Additionally (and really importantly) WE NEED A FIXED TIME SLOT (preferably 7pm)

Providing (and this is an almighty big 'if') they don't schedule Doctor Who against the X-Factor and give it a fixed slot, then we should notice a significant bump in the Autumn

I think so. I really think that the only reason there is a split this year is to help make the transition to Autumn broadcasting for next year. I would imagine, if they have to face X Factor, they will tag team it with Merlin in order to take it on because Merlin always holds its own against that show. But I think X Factor is usually on at around 8ish so it should be easy to avoid. It will also be in full swing by the time DW comes back, so it will be much easier for the BBC to schedule around it without ITV being sneaky with their schedule

I think that given the competition, that was a very strong showing. And nothing else even got above 4m for the rest of the day, so it shows that DW is still head and shoulders above the rest of the output

Thats a great result. Especially in comparison to the rest of the evening and the fact it was up against the UEFA final. I had a sinking feeling it might go as low as about 4m but 5m is great in the circumstances

It's lower than I expected, but then I didnt know what the competition was. Still though, head and shoulders above the rest of the standard shows.

Have they scrapped the Hare show now?

Well it's up on last week & it's still really good. I think, given the ending, I expected it to be higher though.

I'll sort out this weeks charts either later or tomorrow. Having to download a new Office package as the last one stopped working and wouldn't load

Its a great figure. Its not over 7 which is a shame, but it had to start from an overnight of just 5m, so the timeshift is awesome. AGMGTW will clear 7m easily!

That's up on the last couple of weeks, isnt it? Hasn't it been mid 20's? Or was it mid 30's?

Up to now they have all been hovering in the mid to late 30s. For any other show 29.5 is a brilliant figure, but its quite low for DW
