I thought that at first, but I think it was poorly written, not a mistake.  River made her comment about the ability to translate writing, and Amy and Rory immediately looked at the cot inscription.  Then River said no, not that, it's in Gallifreyan.  That doesn't mean it was the same thing, although that's the obvious conclusion to jump to.

But when she said it to the Doctor and nodded towards the crib, didn't the camera focus in on the Gallifreyan writing?

Maybe it is psychic writing Wink Adjusts when it needs to and it hasn't needed to up until this point? *shrugs*

How was Avery's son off his space ship and not hooked up to the wires keeping him alive?

Did I miss how everyone was zapping through time? How did the Silurians suddenly appear? How did the Spitfires get there? How did Rory get to the Stormcage?

I thought it was the TARDIS. We saw it pop up a few times so I just assumed there was some off screen happenings

The TARDIS makes sense for Rory (although why did the Doctor not show?) but the spitfire? Plus the Silurians literally appeared out of thin air.

(Were they able to do that in the Hungry Earth 2 parter? I hate those episodes so much I've only seen them twice)

Well the spitfires have always been ridiculous. Aneurin brought up their presence in the Alliance II thread.

As for the Silurians, no they can't just appear out of nowhere, or at least they never have before, but again I just put it down to them hiding in the background but transported by the TARDIS. That could be completely off the mark though, just what I assumed

I wondered that at first, but he wasn't on the point of death, like Rory, so he could presumably have short periods away from being wired up.

She was referring to the piece of cloth inside the crib.

Ha, ditto!

Shouldn't the Doctor have been able to detect that Amy's baby was really a ganger?

Well that depends on how he worked out Amy was a ganger...

He only saw the baby for a short time (I know off screen time too) and he probably didn't do a TARDIS scan on it or anything. I don't think he expected anyone to be that cruel and callous either  Undecided
