I love SJA, but I think it's time they stop rehashing old DW villains. There are rumours of Silurians in one of the 2 series just been filmed and I just don't see the need. The show has proven time and again that it can stand on it's own two feet. I think it's time we had a full series without anything DW related in the alien department. Do you agree?

I take your point and for the most part agree with it but with budget restraints in place it's inevitable that what resources can be re-utilised will be. To be honest I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often than it does.

Sarah Jane Smith: No.The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship. Everything has its time. And everything ends.

I like it. It keeps it closer to the Whoniverse. Where, Torchwood strays farther and farther, SJA keeps it close by, and I like that.

While it's true that the SJA production team are relying heavily on old monsters and villains from DW, I don't think they should go to the other extreme of not using them at all.
The use of classic monsters as well as all new ones sets SJA down as a sort of middle ground between Doctor Who and Torchwood, and so far that's worked well in favour of the show.

I like that they crossover. I dont always like the choice of alien that they cross between the shows, but I do like that they have that connection to the main show. I also hope the rumours of the Silurians in series 5 turns out to be true

I like that we see DW aliens in SJA, esp. when they tie in to Sarah Jane's past like the Sontarans. I think that with her history the audience expect some sort of crossover, and as MandyDuchovney says it probably has a lot to do with the budget too.
Having said that, I would hate for the Trickster to cross over to DW.

One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.

Now that I am completely up to date on the show, I have to say I like the balance they have with the the DW stuff and original aliens. They dont overdo it, but they havent cut themselves off either. Its a good balance

I agree. I like the alien crossovers between the shows. it reaffirms that this is all coexisting within the same universe and is a nice nod to the main show from The SJA

Exactly. I think its important to keep those links with the main show and it manages to do that while still standing on its own two feet.
