88 Is a brilliant score and well deserved I feel.

As for that hare thing, I'm surprised it was as high as it was. Shockingly awful

I've seen a couple of tweets suggesting the final ratings for this were 8.86 million, with an audience share of 43.3% - nothing from a proper source but I'll keep an eye out for confirmation  Smiley

It's a great figure if true, but I wouldnt have thought they would be released early. I'll have a check on BARB see if they are early because of the Bank Holiday or something Smiley

I just checked and you are spot on PRG.

It timeshifted 2.3million. For people not familiar with ratings, thats ENORMOUS!!

Also, to put further perspective on it, BGT got 10m and timeshifted just 500,000. It also had a lower overall audience share which means there were more people watching tv, but more people choosing to watch something else. This proves that people will go out of their way to seek out the show if they cant watch it as live and this is also without iPlayer hits (which it is still in the top ten of btw).

And for everyone who thinks that TIA fell below every other opener, it actually sits right at average in the middle.

10.8m - Rose
10.1m - Eleventh Hour
9.1m - Partners In Crime
8.9m - The Impossible Astronaut
8.7m - Smith And Jones
8.6m - New Earth

Now I'm off to make more graphs Smiley

Ok, here I am with my latest graph. This is what I got and I hope it makes sense to everyone. I included 4 points of reference. Overnights and officials for this series (so you can see the growth), officials for the series as a whole and officials for last year. Plenty of stuff to compare. Does it make sense?

Brilliant!! I knew that it would get a huge boost. Isnt that the biggest timeshift yet? I cant think of DW having bigger. I think TEH was the biggest and I think that got 2.1m. I might be wrong though.

When the iPlayer stats come in it will clear 11m without a doubt

Brilliant. Once iPlayer is factored in it will be huge, though they don't actually count those as 'official' I don't think

BARB have announced that TIA was the 6th most watched show on all of television for that week. Thats the second highest opener that the show has ever got (TEH hit Number 3). Of the top 20, 16 were soap opera episodes and one was a reality TV show, so DW is still the highest rating drama in the UK

Just seen this on the Docs blog. Hope its ok to just copy it over. Its excellent news Smiley

Despite some media outlets who would have us believe that the sky is falling in on Doctor Who, recent iPlayer statistics have revealed that The Impossible Astronaut is on its way to becoming the most watched programme on the platform ever.

After being available for just 12 days, The Impossible Astronaut has notched up an amazing 1.5million hits. The current most watched show on iPlayer which is The Eleventh Hour had only been seen on the iPlayer 1.27 million times within the same period. TIA now has an overall reach of over ten million viewers and growing.

The Impossible Astronaut has stiff competition from its next episode though because after just 4 days, Day of the Moon has managed to get 1.07million hits and is likely to grow significantly over the next week

That really is! And it looks like DOTM is going to do even better! It just goes to show that overnight ratings really don't mean anything anymore.

It's great news that the ratings are not falling off.  I think the quality of the new episodes is superb and glad to see that the general audience is sticking with the show.  There is nothing that is touching the popularity of Doctor Who from a drama point of view and this will ensure a hopefully long, successful future for the show.
