I love Rory, just don't love that they make him the one they always "kill off" it's just completely desensitising every death there is because we instantly think, oh he isn't going to actually die, he will come back... *sigh* But Matt is brilliant as ever! I had to reply to this stupid comment on facebook, wanted to beat him up : Smith tries to copy Tennangts quirkyness but it just comes off as plain gay, also this episode particularly sucked because the whole idea is that the doctor is the last timelord so whats the point of using red herrings to suggest theres another one? its pointless Grr

River Song: Everyone knows that everyone dies. And nobody knows it like the doctor. But I do think that all the skies in all the worlds might just turn dark, if he ever accepts it. ??Cheeses + rising!

Full marks from me. It was an absolute gem of an episode. The first few minutes had me wondering if maybe it wouldnt work but then it really took off and was brilliant. Best episode since Moffat took over

I would only take a mark off for this reason:
GAIMAN "KILLED" OFF RORY TOO
C'mon, you can't not have Rory die at some point. It's become traditional now!

Had to give it full marks. Only watched it once so far, but I can see that it's going to be an episode I'll want to watch over and over!

After 3 rewatches, I never thought possible but my opinion on this episode has gotten even stronger. This is some of the most complete storytelling I have ever seen. Plot + Characterisation + Suspense + Emotion. This just gets better with every single viewing.

There were a couple of minutes at the beginning where I had a feeling I was in for a big let down, but then all of a sudden it became brilliant and by the end I was in tears, which as many of you know happens quite a lot anyway. Utterly brilliant

Amazing episode rtd gave the show a 21st century kick in the right direction, Moffat made who proPerly scary again, gainman took old school running through corridors and made it urgent and pacy, when moff steps down gainman to become show runner

Because, as the Doctor said, there is always hope. Even though he knows the rest of the Timelords are gone, he survived, so did the Master, and so there is always this hope, no matter how slim, that others may have too. I won't touch the Tennant vs Smith thing because it would get me in trouble. ;@ Did anyone else think "Oh no, how will he rescue River next time?" when he jettisoned the swimming pool?

I felt a moment's sorrow when the swimming pool was lost Hehe. But I just rewatched it and it's just superb. I held off on scoring at first but this is definitely 5/5 material.

Full marks from me. That episode was absolutely perfect. It felt like such a historic moment for the show and at the same time was filled with so much history. Brilliant

I was shocked this morn to discover that a good mate, a MASSIVE Who fan, hated this episode.
He loved the basic idea - The Doctor having a physical conversation with the TARDIS - but thought everything about it was poorly executed, stuff like the password, Suranne Jones' "pantomine" acting etc.
I've watched it twice now & here's the comments I offered to him;
I loved the episode, thought it was one of the more "classic feeling" eps they've done since the show returned. I have few gripes, but here they are; Rory. Either kill him or don't. This South Park crap is getting old. Also I'm leaning towards kill as he's just beginning to grate now. The two freaks - what was it, Aunt & Uncle? I could barely understand what they were saying. (that was a classic Who trait though!) The payoff of how Idris/TARDIS simply went glowy & we heard Michael Sheen crack one off - sorry - die. House could have been done by Nick Briggs for all the difference it made. I thought the stuff with 11 & Idris was brilliantly done, nice nods back the way without going over the top. I was actually really impressed with Suranne Jones as I've only ever seen her play gobby bints. Karen Gillan is still turning round my opinion of her this series, even when other things don't work, she seems to have gotten her game on. The corridor was pretty cheapo, and I never expected the corridors to look so, well, rubbish. I agree on the password thing, that was just guff. Seeing the old console room just reminded me how much I dislike this one! Would've been great to see one of the old sets though, but guessing they'd have to build them from scratch. I think this ep has been a standout amongst a very "meh" series - despite loving the ep, I can't shake this feeling that something's missing/wrong with series 6 as a whole thus far.
Feel free to analyse my comments too - I expect a couple of lashes from Roranicus at the very least!!

Top marks from me this week. I was expecting it to fall flat on its face when I found out what was happening but it worked so well and there were so many brilliant and mad and lovely moments that it was hard not to love it all. We had a great story, sharp and witty dialogue throughout and brilliant production values too which made this probably my favourite episode since Moffat took over

@TFD - I agree with a few of your comments. Rory is grating on me too, and I missed half of what Aunty/Uncle said. The TARDIS corridors was also pretty obviously one stretch being filmed in again and again. Still though, I was very excited to see the TARDIS interior The only thing I really didnt like was the big hole and Rory's leg going out/almost falling in which looked ridiculous. But, credit to this episode, it's the only one in six seasons which has really made me want to go and watch the Classic series.

I've only just managed to see this and boy was I impressed. Like a couple of others I had a few reservations and worried that it might have been slightly overhyped but it was brilliant from start to finish. Brilliantly written with a brilliant cast, this is easily one of the best stories since the show returned

I agree with The Fifth Doctor that having Michael Sheen do the voice was a waste. You couldnt tell it was him anyway so they may as well have gotten anyone to do it

I have given this one a 4. There was just something about it that wasn't clicking for me and while I thought it was still good, it didnt live up to the hype for me
