I gave it a 4, but tending more to 5 than 3. I didn't think it had the genius touch of last week, but it was a good, solid start to a good, solid story. I can see where the "classic" comments come from - it was the kind of claustrophic "there's something terrible in here with us" story reminiscent of Fury From the Deep, The Ark in Space, Robots of Death and a number of others. Great idea. Main negatives - 1) I saw the cliffhanger coming a mile off and 2) yes, we know there's a mystery about Amy's pregnancy - trust us to remember till it's needed.

I went with a five. I was really happy with this episode and I have watched it twice already. Based on how next week performs, I might even end up prefering this to TDW

I've just had a rewatch and I'm definately glad that I gave this episode a 5 now. Its very much deserved. The only thing that sort of niggled me is the leader of the group. The human version. One minute she was all meek and upset because she had lost her group then all of a sudden she went all Ellen Ripley. Quite a character change

I gave this story a 4 - really enjoyed it, thought the gangers were a very believable, sympathetic race. Liked the creepiness and the pace of the story. Not sure whether there is enough for a 2-parter but we'll see next week. Thought this was very old-school but that's not bad, however I prefer similar old-school stories, like Ark In Space, Robots of Death etc. Quite like a Pertwee story in that the blame lies with the human characters rather than the "monsters".

I was disappointed. Better than "Curse of the Black Spot", but not by much. Again, the Doctor, Amy, and Rory all seemed off character. I was actually bored. 2 from me.

I gave it full marks. I was one of the people who had little to no expectation for it based on trailers and the little bits I knew about the plot, but it's one of my favourites from the series so far

I gave this one a three. I thought it was a perfectly fine and enjoyable episode but I did feel that it was a bit too predictable. Had it been more surprising, I would have bumped it to a 4.

Full marks from me on this episode. Even at half a story I completely loved it and thought it was better than last weeks episode (which I also loved, just not as much) I am very much looking forward to part 2

Sounding like a marmite ep.
I give it a 2.
Something I never, ever want to do whith Doctor Who is clockwatch, but I did it several times in this episode.
The acting was ropey (especially Marshall Lancaster IMO) and they may as well have posted in that ending a couple years ago.
Dunno where they are going with the Gangtor but I assume everyone is thinking the same thing - there's your Impossible Astronaut explanation?
I loved last week, but that aside I'm realling sitting in the "meh" camp with this series. If business doesn't pick up with ep 7 then the remainder in the Autumn I'll be very disappointed.

The only thing I want to know is where the Doctor was off to after he dropped Amy and Rory off for chips?

Well I rewatched it and I stick by my one. I did put it on last night to rewatch but it had me falling asleep so I had to turn it off and watched it today instead.
The two guys who go to look for space suits are ridiculous. Go watch their 'sneaky' running down the corridor before the scene where they find the acid suit locker (26 mins 11 secs in). It's hilariously bad. And then when they find the acid suit room, their conversation is so poorly acted too. Although, I find that Doctor Who more than any other show has a habit of picking some of the most annoying guest actors.
The only good things I have to say about it is the music is, as always, great. And the CGI looked fairly decent for Who as well.

You know what I missed about this episode? The humor. Nothing was funny, no one-liners, no silly stuff from the Doctor, nothing. That's what makes what could be an otherwise dull episode fun and watchable.

Agreed. The only line that made me smile was:
"Halt and remain calm" "Well we've halted... how are we doing on the calm front?"
Little else other than that.

Really? I thought there were lots of nice little one liners. Like when the Doctor found the sunken TARDIS or Rory's comment about dying all the time. The thing is, the show can't always be laced with humour. Too much in a story like this would have detracted from it I think

The Doctor's line to the sunken TARDIS was great - always would have been - but after TDW it's even better

Exactly. It was delivered brilliantly. It was as though he has walkled out there and found Idris burying herself in the mud or something. Makes me chuckle just thinking of it. The look on his face was priceless
