I know she is in an upcoming episode, but I think that Frances Barber would be awesome

I have no problems with the casting of a woman per se. I do think it would make it a radically different show although my 'Time and the Rani' DVD extras said that Sydney Newman himself suggested it in the mid eighties in a bid to re-energise the show. As always, the criteria for me is simple - I want the best possible actor available and someone totally different to the last chap.

I do think it would make it a radically different show

I think essentially that would be my biggest problem with the premise - the dynamics would be too drastically altered  Sad

It doesn't surprise me however that the possibility was considered - it would have been a huge mistake but the reasoning behind it was understandable at the time.

I think it would be better to do a spin-off of sorts where The Doctor meets a Time Lady and then she gets a show with her own adventures.  Or they bring back The Doctor's Daughter.  Even though she didn't fully regen at the end of that ep doesn't mean she can't so you could have whatever actress you want do it.

I always thought if they wanted to play around with the concept a spin off would be the best place to start. Jenny's conception kind of cried out for a show so I was quite surprised when it didn't happen. Perhaps RTD has got it up his sleeve for when he parts company with TORCHWOOD or SJA comes to an end Cheesy
