I felt compelled to start this after making a comment about her in another thread just now. I'm not a huge Amy fan but was completely bowled over with Caitlin Blackwoods portrayal of little Amelia. Considering she had no acting experience and was primarily cast because of her similar looks to Karen Gillan, it seemed like the perfect way for it all to go balls up, but Amelia was a brilliantly written, fiesty child played wonderfully by CB. I would absolutely love to see her return to the show in series 6 or later. In the few scenes she was in, she completely owned the screen and wasn't overshaddowed by the other more experienced actors around her. I probably prefer her to Amy if truth be told. Any other Amelia fans around?

You're not alone. I wish she had been the companion! D:

I loved Amelia. She should definately come back for more. I don't know how they would fit her in, but I guess that's what writers are for

Yeah Amelia was great - I really would love it if they could find a way to bring her back. Has to be well done though.

Ditch Amy and have her history be rewritten somehow so all we have is Amelia. I'd really prefer her and Rory as the companions--it'd be kickass.

She was better written than the adult Amy that's for sure

I rather agree. I think it would've been different to have a child in the TARDIS, maybe balanced with an older brother? That could've been Rory. And that would've been neat.

I'm not sure I'd like a child as a full time companion as I think it would limit a lot of the stories and limit a lot of what the Doctor could do because he would be childminding, but for a story or two I think it could work well

Yeah, good point. Maybe if she were just old enough to not need so much minding? Hm.

I totally agree. The Eleventh Hour was so special for me because of that wonderful scene of Amelia getting her case together and sitting in the garden waiting. This cynical, sceptical old(ish) man, actually got a lump in his throat at the sight of a little child waiting for the Doctor to return. It was so powerful and she acted it so beautifully. Unfortunately the legislation in the UK concerning child actors (schooling requirements, rest breaks etc) are quite onerous on the production team and would cause two major problems. (1) Having her as a companion would be significantly more expensive than an adult actor because of the support she would need and related to that (2) The amount of time it would take to film the show would increase (also significantly) and if there was lots of night shooting then this would become a real issue. This is a real shame as I totally agree - she would be amazing

I'm glad to see so much love for Amelia. I thought I might end up being the only one. One of my friends who loves DW hated the character. He is a proper moany scrooge though
