Quote from: The Discontinuity Guide
'What's the point of being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes?' A steady, rather than spectacular, start for the new Doctor. A fun runaround, with lots of good bits, rather spoiled by silly scenes with the robot.

It's fun spotting the King Kong references too.

Not a bad story for Baker's first. Though he really felt like Pertwee in his serious attitude, I do love the way he acts in the first several minutes of the story. A bit silly but DW has barely done any stories of Robots and their confrontation with humanity so it's not like it became a cliche'.

Today, the Kaled race is ended, consumed in a fire of war. But, from its ashes will rise a new race. The supreme creature. The ultimate conqueror of the universe. The Dalek!

Reached ambitiously for Greek tragedy/Frankenstein/King Kong but ultimately just came off as corny. Robots having a crisis of self-doubt just come off false and absurd to me. But then, that's what they did in Dalek, and everybody apart from me seemed to like it
