2 from me. There were a couple of good points but on the whole I wasn't too keen on the story or Simms Master

I gave this one a four. I thought Simm was ok as that Master and the character was much better here than in TEOT, though he was a bit too manic for my liking as I always thought the character was better when he was more of a subtle evil. It was also really nice to have a Dalek free finale, especially after assuming for mostt of the series that we would be seeing the Doctor face them again, like in the previous two years.

I gave this a three, though I was perhaps being a bit generous. There are some parts that I really like and then there are others, like the Dobby Doctor, The Master, The Toclafane, time going backwards etc, that I really wasn't keen on

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

This one gets a 3. The plot was decent until about half way through the second episode. I wasn't keen on Simms Master and the stuff with the CGI Doctor was terrible

Deep breath..... I absolutely HATE this finale. How do you go from the greatness of Derek Jacobi in Utopia to....this. John Simm was absolutely preposterous as The Master. We had the Toclafane - truly appallingly bad "villains" who were a knock off of the zeroids from Terrahawks. There was their introduction to Earth, via the eye rolling dance track Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders, complete with The Master's wife dancing in the background. The laser screwdriver which could turn The Doctor into a house elf, no less. The actual crux of the story - Martha walking the Earth like Caine in Kung-Fu spreading the Doctor's name to repower him was a total WTF moment. In fact, this story caused my mate to stop watching the show until a few weeks ago. What shocked me more was the way RTD proudly talked of this finale in his book.

Living proof that not only the Moff polarises opinion. As much as TFD hates TSOD/LOTTL, I absolutely love it. I gave it a five. I could watch the trilogy (starting with Utopia) a million times and never get tired! I love Simm's master, I loved the outrageous campness of it all I absolutely concede that it is the ultimate marmite story - i'm just on the side of loving it

3. It has its moments - the idea of the Master as Prime Minister, the hunt for the Doctor, the scenes of Martha travelling the world (even though I'm not entirely keen of the idea behind it I think those scenes were done brilliantly). I also really liked the way they wrote out Martha - no big sci-fi concepts of getting trapped in a parallel universe or having her mind wiped to save her life, she just leaves voluntarily to be with her family after the terrible things they'd been through. Nice bit of writing, that.
However, John Simm's version of the Master doesn't do it for me - I like the Master to be the Gentleman Psychopath that he was in the old series, not the manic, swivel-eyed lunatic he became in this. (although the scene where he gases the entire cabinet still raises a giggle) And other parts are just idiotic: the DobbyDoctor, the messiah-like Doctor floating through the air towards the Master, the whole 'hit-the-reset-button-and-pretend-it-didn't-happen-except-for-killing-the-president-because-he-wasn't-very-nice' ending.
In fact this whole story (and I include Utopia in this as I've always regarded it as a three-parter) seems to start brilliantly then get worse and worse in its second half, becoming almost laughable by the end.

I went with a two. Some bits were interesting but on the whole I wasn't keen and it is definately the worst of the finales up to this point

I gave this a four. Its not the strongest finale and I wasn't overly keen on Simms Master, but there were some interesting themese being explored and Martha had a brilliant, if not too soon an ending

I have one question about this episode...In the episode the Master refers to Rose and how Martha is pathetic compared to her. But how did the Master know about Rose and what she did in Parting of Ways? I doubt the Doctor told him and Jack wouldn't know about what she did. I can't figure that part out.
