Tonight saw the Royal Television Society hold its annual Programme Awards. Though Doctor Who wasn't nominated itself several categories had related nominations:

Steven Moffat was awarded the Judge's Award at the ceremony. His co-creation with Mark Gatiss Sherlock also performed well winning the Drama Series category.

Former Doctor David Tennant was nominated in the Actor (Male) category for Single Father but lost out to another "Doctor" Jim Broadbent who won the award for his role in Any Human Heart (Broadbent was one of the Doctor's short-lived incarnations in Moffat's Comic Relief special, The Curse of Fatal Death).

The Sarah Jane Adventures starring Elisabeth Sladen also won a prize beating off opposition to win the Children's Drama category.

The results were published 'live' during the course of the evening via the Society's media feed on Twitter.

Sarah Jane Smith: No.The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship. Everything has its time. And everything ends.

That's great news for all the winners - well done to them  Cheesy

Being a 'Sherlock' fan as well I'm very pleased to see it carry off the Drama Series award  Smiley
