I've heard so many people slating this story, but I really don't see what the fuss is. Perhaps because people waited so long for a new episode (I only recently watched so I didnt have the hype) their expectations were higher, but it was a far better story than most of the earlier ones since the show came back. There were a few bits that weren't so great as with most episodes, but it was a solid and fun story with some great characters. I'd also love to see Christina again

I'm with you on this. I thought it was a good story with a good cast (though Lee Evans is a bit iffy). I don't really know what I was expecting when it aired. Something bigger I guess. But this is what we got and looked at as a standard episode I thought it stood up well. It may have been called a 'special' because it was stand alone, but it didnt need to be anything more than what it was. I think some people just expected something bigger and more explosive

I think the problem with this one, for me, is that they tried to stuff too much into it - the "Stagecoach" plot didn't really work (unlike in Midnight, where it was handled brilliantly) because there wasn't time to get to know all the characters enough, because so much time was taken up with UNIT and the insect people.  I think it could have been excellent if they'd either dropped one subplot, or else made it a two-parter.

I gave this a four. It wasn't 'special', but I have no idea why it was so disliked amongst fandom. I thought it was a great story with a great companion. Lee Evans and the fly people were a bit annoying, but other than that I was happy with it

I gave this a four. It has a reputation for being really bad, but I thought it was really enjoyable with a great story. It wasn't the best of the specials, but second best for sure.

I gave this one a two. I used to think it was great, but the more I watch it the more it's faults become evident.

3 for me.
Some ropey FX let it down.
I loved Lady Christina, and I remember on first watching how the "he will knock four times" had everyone going "whoa." (and even RTD didn't know how that was gonna go at the time, according to his book!)

I went with a three. Most of the best parts of the story were with Donna and her character development. Even over the course of the episode you could see the change in her and I thought that was great

That comment was meant for Planet of the Ood. Damn those similar titles. Still would have got a three though

I loved this. It was worth a five for Lady Christina in a catsuit alone! But I thought the whole story was a fabulous romp. Lee Evans provided a lovely little cameo, the "He will knock four times" set up was fabulous - good old Rusty had us all guessing with that one (I got reasonably close - I thought it would have nothing to do with the Master and would be a seemingly innocuous event). It also had a flying bus.

To me, this is what the Tennant/RTD era did so well - and i loved it
