Davros, the evil leader of the Daleks and one of Doctor Who’s most formidable opponents, has endured his fair share of intergalactic struggles.

But now the mutant megalomaniac is at the centre of a very different kind of battle here on Earth.

A lifelong Doctor Who fan claims he dreamt up the character when he was just 13, and is suing the BBC for breach of copyright.

I'd say it will probably come to nothing. Anything that's successful always has someone coming forward claiming it as their idea. Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Twilight, Star Wars etc. If half these people were to be believed then pretty much everything that's reached a certain level of success has been plagiarised.

I can't see that ever sticking - yes he may have drawings & copies of his original writing but he can't prove when he did them - could just as easily have been sketched out after the show aired. And they were 'lost' for X number of years - that's convenient!

Have to agree success does always seem to bring these people out of the woodwork!

Oh dear oh dear - so he designed it in 1972. In 1975 Davros first appeared - but he decided to keep quiet. Then again in 1979 and 1983 and 1985 and 2009. But now he needs this injustice correcting.

I like a chap who doesn't rush in and takes his time!!!!

Well, the article does say he's off sick from work.  It doesn't say if it's physical sickness or otherwise.

Well...whichever it is let's hope he gets the help he needs. I'm just surprised his claim has gone as far as it has.
