Their aim is to form an invincible army from the survivors and use this to take over the galaxy. The War Lord is assisted by a Security Chief and a War Chief, the latter of whom the Doctor quickly recognises as a member of his own race, the Time Lords. The War Chief has provided the Aliens with the time vessels, SIDRATs, that are essential to their scheme; but he secretly plans to double-cross them and seize power for himself..... VS The Mind Robber"We obey our creator, that is all that can be expected of any character, unless the Master bids us otherwise." The travellers find themselves in an endless void, where they are menaced by White Robots. Having regained the safety of the TARDIS, they believe they have escaped - until the ship suddenly explodes apart. They then find themselves in a land of fiction, where they are hunted by life-size clockwork soldiers and encounter characters like Rapunzel and Swift's Lemuel Gulliver. Oh this is a tough one. I love both stories. The War Games just edges it though.

Two of my favourite Troughton stories. The War Games was more epic, though.

The War Games just wins out in a close heat 7-5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Round 3 Battle 02 The Tomb of the Cybermen Vs The Wheel in Space The Tomb of the Cybermen"Well, if we count in Earth terms I suppose I must be about 400... yes, about 450 years old! Yes. Well. Quite..." First Transmitted: 1 - 02/09/1967 17:50 2 - 09/09/1967 17:50 3 - 16/09/1967 17:50 4 - 23/09/1967 17:50 PlotThe TARDIS arrives on the planet Telos where an Earth archaeological expedition, led by Professor Parry, is attempting to uncover the lost tombs of the Cybermen. With a lot of help from the Doctor the archaeologists enter the tombs. There, one of the party, Klieg, reveals himself and his business partner, Kaftan, to be planning to revive the Cybermen. VS the Wheel in Space"Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority." First Transmitted 1 - 27/04/1968 17:15 2 - 04/05/1968 17:15 3 - 11/05/1968 17:15 4 - 18/05/1968 17:25 5 - 25/05/1968 17:15 6 - 01/06/1968 18:00 PlotThe TARDIS materialises on board a spaceship, the Silver Carrier, where the Doctor and Jamie are attacked by a Servo Robot. Jamie manages to contact a nearby space station known as the Wheel and they are rescued. Meanwhile, the Silver Carrier discharges some Cybermats, which also travel to and enter the station. These pave the way for the penetration of the station by Cybermen, who intend to use its direct radio link with Earth as a beacon for their invasion fleet.
