What do we think of this two parter?

I watched it again the other day and I have to admit that it has grown on me, and I kind of like it now, but not too sure why. I think I thought the whole River Song thing was cheesy at the time, but since River has grown on me, so have the episodes with her in.

What do we think then? Smiley

This used to be one of my favourites of series 4, but as time goes on I seem to remember it less fondly. I still always enjoy it when I watch it, but there are bits that I don't like as much as I used to.

That being said, I rewatched the ending a few days ago when I was looking for sound clips for the podcast and I still thought it was brilliant, so perhaps I just need another rewatch to get me back in the mood for it, so to speak.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I love it - one of my favourite new stories.  I think one of the things is the whole expedition feeling that harks back to stories like Tomb of the Cybermen.

I went with a 4 on this one. I think it is great and it introduced the wonderful River Song which means it will always be a bit special. Donna's ending is so sad with the guy not being able to call out to her Cry Brilliant.

I don't like the Doctor Moon character very much or the Lux guy, which is why I took the point off.

I went with a 3. There are aspects of it that I really, really love, but there is just something about it, I'm not quite sure what, that just doesn't work for me.

Top Marks for this. A brilliant, brilliant story that introduced us to River Song. What more could you want?

I gave it a 3.
I like it less every time I watch it, like Saber, something just doesn't click for me.

I went with a four for this one. Everything was pretty spot on but I found Tennant really annoying throughout

I rewatched this lately and, although it remains one of my favourites, I noticed three pretty big holes in it.

Firstly, Miss Evangelista - how the *deleted* did she get the job as Lux's PA?  Lux doesn't seem the type to hire on the basis of a pretty face, especially on a venture that important to him - even if he were shagging her, and there's no suggestion of that.

Why would the computer-generated "ordinary life" for a 51st century girl be exactly like 1990s/2000s life?  Wouldn't it make more sense to give herself the kind of environment she was familiar with while alive?

The dates don't add up, unless not only human lifespan but the generational gap has increased vastly by the 51st century.  The library was built to house Cal's consciousness, and had time to become famous all over the known universe before disaster struck.  A hundred years pass, then the son of Cal's elder sibling turns up, apparently middle-aged, to investigate.  Realistically, Lux's parents must have been born at least 150 years earlier.
