A special 15 minute special will air at 6.45 on Saturday on the CBBC channel between BBC1's Doctor Who Launch and BBC3's Confidential.

Elisabeth Sladen created one of Doctor Who's best loved and most enduring characters, Sarah Jane Smith. For over 35 years she brought the feisty, compassionate journalist to life, creating a figure that was adored by audiences of all ages - truly a heroine whose appeal had no boundaries.

This 15 minute programme is both a tribute and a celebration of Elisabeth Sladen. It brings together stories from friends and colleagues and draws on a rich archive of material to remind us of Sarah Jane's journey, from companion to the Third Doctor to the central character in CBBC's award-winning The Sarah Jane Adventures.

If you wish to discuss the special porgramme then please feel free to do so in here.

Its nice to know they have put something together. I wasn't massively familiar with her or the character but I will be watching.

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

That was a lovely way to say goodbye. Affectionate and touching without ever being mawkish. I feel sad but uplifted (if that makes sense). And I don't feel guilty about the massive high I felt from watching Doctor Who - because more than ever after watching that tribute, I feel Lis would be so happy at the enduring legacy of the show she was so integral to.

Not to sound like a tool, but does nobody slap these younglings & tell them to take their damn hats off?
Show some respect, come on!

Maybe it's my upbringing, but that really annoyed me.

I was actually surprised that there were no tears during the programme. Nicely done, given how quickly they put it together.

Yes he did...

Was a lovely tribute... the BBC HD episode started a little late so I missed the first 5 mins, but will catch up tomorrow... Was great to see so many of her co-workers speaking so highly of her, and then way that they used some of the children's comments from Newsround website was great.

I'm sure Lis is up there loving how she's been remembered.

Tom Spilsbury of DWM just tweeted this:

"CBBC's rating for My Sarah Jane was 707,000 - a terrific rating for a terrific programme."

Not that ratings matter for this show but I thought I'd share them nonetheless.

That's one of the highest ratings the channel has got, so its wonderful that so many tuned in.
