Cathy Jamison is a reserved suburban wife and mother whose recent cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life and find hope, humor and the light side of a dark situation, while managing her immature but well-meaning husband.Cancer is a touchy subject, but the writers have managed to balance the seriousness of it with just the right amount of humour so that there are times when you are laughing as you cry along to it. Laura Linney plays a blinder as Cathy and the rest of the cast are brilliant too. It's been renewed for a second series and she just picked up the best actress award at the Golden Globes, so it's doing a lot of things right. The last episode of series one, I'm not to manly to admit, had me in absolute floods of tears, but still had lots of humour. It really is worth watching. The whole time nobody knows that she has cancer, but in an effort to live out her last in a new and carefree way she starts acting really differently so everyone thinks that she is just going crazy. Very funny and very touching. Anyone been watching? If not then you really should

Oh gosh, the last episode of series 1 broke my my heart. This is one of my favourite shows right now. The blend of funny and tragic is perfect and Laura Linney plays the role beautifully. As you said you really will laugh and cry at the same time in equal measure. I would honestly reccomend this to anyone. There is so much in it that anybody at all can relate to and I can't wait for the next series to air.

This show is hysterically funny but if you watch it then prepare to cry by the bucket load. It doesnt matter how unemotional you are, this show will get you

This series is absolutely brilliant. If you havent seen it then you should. I wasnt keen when I saw the ads but decided to give it a go anyways and I am so glad I did. So poignant but so funny.

I think a lot of people were the same when it came to the ads. Its one of those shows where until you see it you don't really get it, especially due to the touchy subject matter, but its not what you expect. It certainly isnt what I expected
