Loved how involved Rory seemed to be now... he seems even more involved than in any of the stories last series and it was lovely to see him as a sort of 'proper' part of the TARDIS crew now, and actually getting into things. Loved the way he was in charge of looking over the reaction to the TARDIS because he was the new one! I guess it was just nice to see him involved more...

Yea I get you. When he was left to look after Canton I thought it was a great little touch. He seemed a little insecure at parts though and while I kind of understand why, I don't particularly like it. I don't want that to be what he becomes all about

I thought it was a really good, mature performance by Arthur Darvill. Rory is a difficult companion to pull off as he is the definitive '3rd wheel'. But in this, I agree with the OP, he seemed to have a 'place' within the Doctor-Amy dynamic. That scene between Rory and River was as enjoyable an exchange as i've seen in many a series.
This is what is slightly annoying me. How does it take a season and a christmas special to 'find their voices' this is something that should have been sorted from day 1. This is a small quibble because I will say, the Moff has delivered a fine opener.

I thought he was very brave to follow River into the tunnels when the Doctor asked. I would have said I don't care how much more you appreciate it, I'm not going! LOL

I agree. Last year he was quick to reign Amy in and though he didnt like it he never seemed insecure, but in the latest episode it seemed a bit like he was too insecure. Suspicious even. If thats a running theme it will get old real quick

I loved the scene in the diner where Rory pokes The Doctor in the chest & says 'How can you be here?' - neat little reversal of their scene from TPO
