Did any of you watch with friends or family who aren't generally very big on the show? What did they think of it? Has The Impossible Astronaut converted anyone or were they not impressed?

My husband fell asleep on the couch half way through the show.  The main bonus of that was that once asleep, he couldn't ask me stuff and interrupt my viewing.

I got my flatmate to watch who isnt really a fan and he enjoyed it, but said he wasn't bothered if he didnt get to see part two.

Thing is, he has always laughed at me for being such a fanboy, but I think he realised last night that it was awesome and was too proud to admit it, so I fully expect him to be tuning next week but trying to act casual about it

My dad didn't understand it as usual but both my parents enjoyed it. My sister however constantly asks me questions about it but she says she hates it.

I am pleased to announce a convert. A friend of mine had been seeing how excited I got and said she'd give the show a watch. The interesting thing is how 'out' of it she felt - way too many in jokes and references but she said it was brilliantly shot, interesting and Matt Smith was very charismatic. She said KG's acting was not the best (I did point out the 200% improvement from last year lol) but she is definitely tuning in next week - and i think she did a sneaky re-watch this afternoon Smiley

Incidentally, good OP TDD - this is often a very good measure of the show. We diehards can sometimes miss the wood for the trees and its very refreshing to get a new slant on it.

One of my friends who wasn't keen on the show sat down and watched and loved it, so I think we have a potential convert there. She is dead excited about part 2

My brother walked in and sat down half way through and watched it til the end... I'm guessing that's a good sign! But I've now found that one of my friends at school, actually really likes Doctor Who... and he said it was his favourite episode yet... I might just find that my brother decides to watch it on Saturday too... might be on for a convert!
