Ok, so there was lots of threads in the forum and loads loads of worried about whether the show would be too American with the opener, but do you think it was or was everyone just worrying for nothing? Personally it could have been set anywhere. I barely even noticed it was in America. I don't mean the setting, that was obviously in America, but it could have been filmed anywhere. And most of what we saw was filmed in Wales anyway. It felt the same as any other episode to me. We managed to get through without those pesky Americans stealing our show

I agree. It felt the same as any other episode. The Dalek story from series 3 felt more Americanised than this one. Though that could all change with part two I suppose

To me it was still the show we know & love. Not American at all - well apart from the setting of course

It was all fine for me, apart from Mark Sheppard having to do an American accent in a British show. (I think he'd be an awesome Master, BTW)

As an American, I'm usually terrified of the "Americinazation" of the show, but I felt it was fine. I mean, maybe the whole Scotland Yard thing was a bit much, but hey, we're Americans, what do you expect?

Yes, the point was the show was done with a British attitude, which was what I missed in the movie.

No way was it too American, to me it was just like any other episode... ok it was fimed in the US, but other than that, and the school bus.... it made no difference to me. Was just like any other episode of Who

I think that they did a great job. Not at all 'American' But yes, some tour companies do use old school buses here so that was spot on

It was no more "too American" than City Of Death was "too French", The Fires Of Pompeii "too Italian" or Planet Of Fire "too Lanzarotian". It's just a setting, it's still Doctor Who.

I loved the American-ness of it If you're going to do a story about Astronauts in the 1960's there really is only one place to do it! I thought the balance was perfect! I very much agree with Dame Roger that it is mere a backdrop to the Doctor Who we know and love.

Haha, true, a 1960 astronaut theme set in Russia, for instance, would be a bit anticlimactic.

Well, they could have done Gagarin - plenty of drama. But I agree Apollo 13 is a better choice.
