Time for a new appreciation thread How awesome was he? I have to admit when I heard of his casting I wasn't expecting much. He was always the bad guy in everything I have seen him in and based on crafty set reports of him chasing Amy and holding River at gunpoint on a ledge, I assumed we were in for more of the same in DW, but he was brilliant. He had the wit and charm balanced perfectly with the braun and attitude and I was totally won over by his character. He sort of puts me in mind of Harry from the 70's. I think, although unlikely, that he would make an awesome companion to the Doctor and I really hope we get to see him again at some point

I liked him very much! I wonder if he will show up again if he's #4 on the Doctor's "most trusted list"?

I can't even think where to begin with my love for this guy. He's just so... badass. And maybe now everyone who's been butthurt and on the rampage about the show's lack of "sexual openness" or whatever can stop their complaining.

It's great, I love that he can freely admit his sexuality even though he knows that most people will reject it as okay, kinda makes you want to admit that kind of thing... but not that much It's a really sweet way of being proud EDIT: Gosh that first paragraph feels really suggestive

Canton was just awesome! The perfect mixture of gravitas, camp and fun. Mark Shepperd played the whole part with a twinkle in his eye and yet was totally believable. I can't believe this is the last we're going to see him

What was it he said to the Doctor when they were saying goodbye "Until the next one"? or something along those lines. Have they got something planned already?

Well at some point the Doctor has to see him again to tell him about the gas can. I know it could be said in a letter, but the other three were the same so I would guess Cantons was too. Also, Canton was 100% sure that it was the real Doctor when they were on the beach and he must have some reason for knowing, so I am sure we will see his return. It might even already have been filmed ready to be slotted in, like with Liz 10 and Churchill and Van Gogh last year.

Canton is by far the best person who is not part of the TARDIS Crew who has helped the Doctor ever. Craig Owens was good and so was Vincent Van Gogh and Winston Churchill but Canton is so much better. And he got the best lines! "Welcome to America." After shooting the Silent. "Looks aren't everything." Before he 'shoots' Rory. And others that I can't quite remember at the moment. He is AWESOME! 'Nuff said
