Wow.
I'm kinda shocked by the voting on this to be honest.

The scores are:
Inferno 7
The Three Doctors 3
Frontier in Space 1

The Winner of The Third Doctor Story Tournament is.....

Inferno

"Yes, well, we don't want to bear a grudge for a few hasty words, do we? No, not after all the years that we've worked together. Now, come along, my dear fellow. Put on a smile..."

Plot

The Doctor is an observer and UNIT are providing security cover at an experimental drilling project designed to penetrate the Earth's crust and release a previously-untapped source of energy, named Stahlman's Gas after its discoverer. Professor Stahlman dismisses the concerns of the project's Executive Director Sir Keith Gold and exceeds all safety margins in order to expedite the work.
Soon however the drill head starts to leak an oily green liquid that transforms those who touch it into vicious primeval creatures with a craving for heat. The Doctor is accidentally transported by the partially-repaired TARDIS control console into a parallel universe where England is ruled by a military dictatorship....

Looks like the right result to me. I was quite torn between whether to vote for Inferno or The Three Doctors as I absolutely love both stories I think the best one won though.

I have no issue with any of the stories, they are all great, but I expected the vote to be really close.
Inferno pretty much ran away with it!

For me this whole tournament has reinforced just what an amazing tenure Pertwee had. There were very few lemons and although I voted for The Three Doctors to win there were numerous really amazing stories: The Daemons, Terror of the Autons, Carnival of Monsters, The Time Warrior, Three Doctors - literally any of these would have been winners.

Great Tourney and many thanks to TFD for keeping it going Smiley

Couldn't agree more, Chris.
I need to find a torrent or something with all his stuff I don't already own.
I think we could easily class 3 as "the golden era of Who".

Now to open the tourney that will eat my life away it's so big......
