I dont think the Doctor needs an Asian companion. I dont see how having an Asian companion would benefit the show or stories more than a companion of any other race. If an actress who is best for the role happens to be Asian, then lets have an Asian companion, but thats how people should always be chosen for roles. Race shouldnt come into it. Thats my opinion anyways

I agree. Always the best person for the job at the time regardless of anything else.

You don't say WHY you think the doctor NEEDS an asian companion ?

 We know and recognise that the doctor NEEDS a companion but as to their sex/race/species - that surely is flexible and to a degree irrespective?

Agreed.  You pick the best actor or actress irrespective of ethnicity or colour.

I agree with all of the above. No point having an Asian companion just for the sake of it. If they are a great actor or actress then fine, but no point having one just to seem PC or whatever

Mr. Magister raised his arms high and spoke the words of conjuration:
‘Hearken to my voice, oh Dark One;
Ancient and awful; supreme in artifice;
Bearer of power; I conjure thee!
Be present here at my command
And truly do my will!
EVA, EVARA, EGABALA!
GAD, GADOAL, GALDINA!’

The OP stated DW needs an asian companion but didn't come back to clarify what they meant or in what context. I think most of us have just presumed they were talking about the tv show.

Doesn't the kid in the TV movie with the 8th Doctor count?
