I don't want Matt Smith to leave anytime soon. I'm just curious.

My picks:

An older Doctor:

Bill Nighy

Or if they keep with the younger guys:

Mr. Ron Weasley himself, Rupert Grint

You?

I think Rupert Grint would be awesome, but if he was to take the role, I would hope that it wouldnt be for a few years. I think he would need to be at least Matt's age before taking on the role. Well, I think anyone would for that matter

My daughter says the guy who played Caleb in Mission:2110 (Stuarrt Goldsmith) - that character is very Doctor-like already.

I'd like it to be someone who isn't very well-known, not a complete beginner but not a huge star either, no names really come to mind though.

This might be a bit left-wing, but I'd love to see RPatz play the Doctor.

It's crazy, I know, but Robert just has that crazy energy that the Doctor has become famous for, and he would fit in so well after MS.

Please don't hate me for this. It's just my opinion. Smiley

It really depends how long we have Matt's Doctor, right now I think Pattinson is too young but who knows once he gets to Matt's age? Trouble is, no matter how good he may be in the role, there will always be a) Anti-Twilight brigade hating him for that and b) the more, um, 'involved' Twilight fans hating him for not being a vampire.

I've been think that Rupert Grint would make a better 13th Doctor due to his age, give it another 5-7 years and I think he could be perfect for the job.

I would however prefer an older actor for 12, Sean Pertwee or Jack Davenport maybe if they cast a well known actor, but I do like it when they go for someone who isn't as well known.

Cumberbatch might make a good villain, but I hope and pray he is never the Doctor.  Perfect as Sherlock thou Smiley

My mentioning Cumberbatch was a wind up - it would be over MY DEAD BODY I can assure you Wink

I wanted Sean Pertwee for 11 so I'd have no problem with him if they went for an older 12. Cheesy  Beyond that my mind is a blank.  Roll Eyes Tongue

Honestly, as long as people continue to associate Robert with Edward, that's always gonna be an issue. Part of it is that people have a problem seeing past typecasting. If twilight fans/haters could see past that, then they would appreciate his take on the role a lot better.

Richard Motherf*cking Coyle if you please.

Failing that I'll take someone who can do a bit of Pertwee style swashbuckling - how about James Purefoy, Sean Pertwee or Jonny Lee Miller?

RPatz is wrong, wrong, wrong. He may have wannabe DT hair, but the boy can't act for toffee.

I agree, Robert Pattinson is an awful actor and shouldnt be allowed anywhere near the show. A lot of people were suggesting James McAvoy via twitter when I asked this a while back but I wouldnt want him either. There are lots of people I know I wouldnt want, but not many I think would be great. I like the Sean Pertwee idea though

I think he could have been a revelation as The Doctor.
Obvious connection aside, we're mostly used to Sean Pertwee as a hard man.
I think he'd surprise a lot of folk.

I read rumours that he had to turn down 11 due to work conflicts/commitments.
Might be rubbish though.

Oh I didnt hear that one. I suppose the downside (if you can call it that) to him being in the role would be that a lot of people would say its 'gimmicky'

There was a lot of talk about Sean being up for the part after DT announced he was leaving. Right up until the night Matt was announced I was led to believe he WAS 11 Undecided Talk about being disappointed Roll Eyes

Still..... I love Matts doc...so all turned out well for me in the end.  Wink

I think he's been considered for The Master as well Shocked Tongue Sean that is...not Matt Grin
