He still has a ways to go before he becomes fully assertive but this was definately a step in the right direction. And he hasnt died yet in this story which is also a big plus

I loved the little nod to that in the episode Smiley

Yeah, it was a nice touch  Smiley

As long as the +1 is Rory then I am good with it Tongue

I'm like this about Adric and people mock me!!! For Shame.

Yea but he's dead and not half as pretty (especially not after 25 years of decomposing), and Rory isnt nearly as lame. He doesnt need a badge to get noticed Tongue

I doubt if there'd have been enough left of Adric to decompose Cool

I like the three-way interaction, although generally I'd like it to be three individuals, and with less sexual tension.  But I have to agree, Rory was great in this episode.

Yea, perhaps something like Ben and Polly where it was platonic and they looked out for each other. That was one of my favourite companion pairings

Or the squabbling sibling relationship between Jamie and Zoe.

I preferred Jamie with Victoria, though I always had a feeling he was a bit in love with her, but also pally and protective. Zoe was just a snooty git

Actually, I liked both of those relationships, but I found Jamie/Zoe more interesting because there was more friction.  Yes, Jamie definitely had a crush on Victoria - that was what got him into trouble in Evil of the Daleks.

I didn't dislike Zoe, I just didnt like her superiority complex. It was a nice change of dynamic in the TARDIS though I guess.

They have worked wonders with him this year, it's true. I feel like with every episode they are pushing him a little further and working his boundries and by the end of this series he will be very highly regarded amongst the more popular companions

He really came into his own in this episode. There have been times when it felt like they didn't quite know what to do with him (and Neil Gaiman, in his DWM interview, all but admitted that he'd have preferred to have written his episode for just the Doctor and Amy) but this week he finally got a really good storyline of his own and became the most memorable thing in the episode.

He seemed out of character in this episode to me.  But then so did Amy and the Doctor.

Well the Doctor has been acting so out of character since this series began that its practically in character now. And Amy has gone through huge changes too, but in a different way. More development. Rory seemed a lot stronger this week, but in a good way

I really liked Rory this week.  It was like we were finally seeing him Mr. Williams instead of as Mr. Pond.  I especially like how he stood up to Amy for what he (and I) believed was right.  Really well written and acted.  Strangely, I found him more handsome than usual while he was in his 'take charge mode' Wink  I want to see more of this Rory Smiley

I like this side to Rory far more. It was good to see him being assertive and standing up for himself. Its about time he came into his own and becoming independant of Amy. As Chrissy said, we are finally seeing Mr Williams as apposed to Mr Pond

If it at any point leads to him firmly putting Amy in her place, then I'm all for it.
(and I don't mean that in a sexist way, I mean the fact she treats him like crap all the time & he just takes it)

She hasn't been so bad this year though so I think the need for him to put her in her place is lower.

The downside to Rory's new found backbone is that he might end up going off on one and being a bit reckless

I think that the reason Rory was so different in this episode is a reflection of his 2000 years waiting. He was plastic and only almost human for it and I think that he can relate to what the clones are going through. Which is why he’s going to such extraordinary lengths to help them.

I had not even thought of that.  Excellent point!
