Out of curiosity, for those of you who stayed spoiler free, or at least relatively spoiler free, for series 6, how much, and in what ways has it changed the way you viewed the series? Has it been better or the same or not lived up to what you thought etc?

Or if you didn't stay spoiler free, do you now wish you had?

Remember guys, no spoilers in here Smiley

I managed to stay relatively spoiler free this year I think. I knew things like castings and a couple of locations stuff, but I wasn't exposed to any huge plot points or anything like that. I had my theories about some stuff, but I knew nothing definate. Even with the stuff I did know though, none of it felt spoiled. I was way too excited about having new episodes to watch to worry about what might or might not happen. My brain empties when I watch a new episode so I never sit there and think 'oh I knew that was coming' because I always think that stuff in hindsight once I have watched the episode, and by then its too late for it to affect my viewing

I think I managed to avoid the huge spoilers everyone was complaining about, but I kept up with the tidbits.  I don't think that affected my enjoyment one way or the other, but I wouldn't have wanted to know everything.

I was doing well, but then had some stuff spilled to me on twitter by accident this week.

I must say, this series is failing to may a lasting impression with me so far this year, whether that's spoiler related or not? Probably not. I probably just set my expectations too high.

I must confess, I was spoiler free.... and then the cards and a certain revelation occurred and I pretty much thought i knew what was happening. There were still two mind blowingly good cliffhangers (DOTM and TAP) which made for very pleasant surprises.

Does it count being spoiler free when you're really forgetful and forget what you've read so therefore forget what happens and not know anything about the episodes?

I'm forgetful if you haven't gathered!  Tongue

I tend towards forgetfulness as well Smiley

I have this theory on spoilers. Essentially, there are three kinds. Some of them are little teasers, with a flavour of what might happen (a bit like the sky planner chat or the clips in the Radio Times). Some they are are a bit like a photograph - you hear one thing and it is a snapshot of what may happen. It might give away a key detail but you don't really know how it is going to play out in the main episode. I love these and am an absolute junky for them.

The third type is slightly different - the type that got Moff into such a tizzy. The type where we get a page summary of everything the an episode contains. These are they type i try to avoid.

Just thought I'd share my taxonomy of spoilers lol Smiley

I promised myself I would stay away from as many spoilers as possible which I think I did pretty well so it didn't really affect my viewing of the show cause I had no idea what was coming and I could work things out for myself Smiley

Once again (assuming that our guestimates are correct and we're looking at an early Sept start) it's two months out and I'm relatively spoiler free - there are bits and pieces I know but nothing substantial. I am not going to slavishly remain spoiler free but I'm not going to actively seek them out! I suspect that a couple of weeks before the air date, the BBC publicity machine will start churning out spoilers (insert appropriate grumpy comment here lol)

Thinking about it. I don't know anything about this next run of episodes! Shocked Cheesy
