After such a brilliant turn last week and some great development, he went back this week to being a pointless addon. Its not Arthurs fault. As always he delivered brilliantly, but there just didnt seem to be room for him this week and it seemed the writer didn't know what to do with him. He was only there because he had to be but for the most part he may as well have been an extra. Its a shame

I hate to say it but I sort of agree. There were a few parts, like with the Jens, where he was important to the story, but for about 3 quarters of it he was just sort of in the background with nothing to do

I love Rory, but I have felt this with his character a couple of times this series and I feel sorry for the guy because its really not his fault that they can't seem to fit his character in

I think that he was used as much as needed in this story. He had his own little role to fulfill

Haha I'm usually quite the crier, but I just assumed this episode wasn't meant to be emotional. Maybe I'm just toughening up?

I'm a big crier as well & it didn't provoke that response from me.

Definitely just me then! Not even when they were in the room and he wanted to go back to let the others out?! Not even when he had to move away from Amy in the TARDIS, couldn't you just see the pain there?  Sad Cry

He seemed more bewildered than upset in the TARDIS I thought

I would guess he will be raging. We don't know what the fallout will be with the Docor either. From Rory's POV, what if he was wrong? At the end of the day, it may not have been 'Amy' but the Doctor still essentially just killed the only wife he had known for the last few months. I think he is going to end up being pretty bitter

Oi you horrible lot!! LEAVE RORY ALONE!!!!

One of my worries with Rory is that he will just end up being a peripheral character and in this episode it definately felt a little like he was sidelined. I havent felt it up until this point in the series and hopefully it will be rectified, but yea, they could have done more with him this week

I agree.  He played such a positive role in the first part, but it wasn't really followed up this time.

See, this is what happened to Adric, happened to Harry Sullivan, happened to poor old Turlough, happened to Mickey. The TARDIS isn't big enough for the Doctor and another male with a female companion.

The only time it has ever worked is with Ian Chesterton and Jamie McCrimmon.

And Wilfred Mott.
