Don't know how much of this isn't know, but woke up to this on my Twitter feed if you hadn't seen it...

Yeah I saw it on mine & it seems like some people are making a really big deal about it. Thing is I knew this ages ago (I'm sure it's on here somewhere) so I'm not sure why it's come as surprise. They've been absent from the series before I understand so it's not like it's unprecedented. Hopefully after a rest they'll come back better than ever - if they don't get a rest they'll suffer from overuse & people will run out of ideas as to what to do with them. We have another iconic villain in this series anyway.

Just my thoughts. I like Daleks but their absence for a series (or longer if needs be) doesn't bother me - we know they are out there somewhere biding their time  Smiley

Yea this isn't new news so it's odd that the BBC of all places should decide to pick up on it. There was a rumour that they would be given a rest this year but brought back for Christmas which spans back to August when I put it on the news page and there is a thread in the spoiler section I think which is from before Christmas too about it

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

Loved how it was in The Sun today too, but as always they took it to the nth level of embelishment!

I'll be glad of the rest to be honest. Cybermen too, especially seeing as it's still that iffy design (which makes no sense IMO)

Yes, I love the Daleks, but I think they've been a bit overexposed since 2005.  In the classic series, it wasn't uncommon to have two or three years between Dalek stories.

True. They only appeared twice in Tom Baker's seven years on the show, and once each for Davison, Colin Baker and McCoy (well, unless you count very brief appearances in The Five Doctors and the TV Movie), which meant that every time they showed up it really seemed like an event. Just isn't the same when they show up every year.
