It wouldnt be odd for River to refer to her father as a great man, perhaps even the greatest man. He did afterall do everything he has done as just another normal man. I'm also convinced Rory will die by the end of the series, so do you think perhaps he is the person River kills? I think its just way too obvious for it to be the Doctor

It could well be. This series has a lot of play where you're meant to think Amy is talking about the Doctor, but she's actually talking about Rory. So it could well be.
I don't think anything he has done yet has made him a great man, though. I expect he will sacrifice himself to save Amy?

Well thinking from Rivers perspective, he spent 2000 years watching over and protecting her dying mum who was stuck in a box, then scoured the galaxy and faced off against a fleet of Cybermen and then fought a group of headless monks etc. If he was my dad I would think he was pretty awesome

It could be. There is always a special place in a girls heart for her daddy. Though I think if she had killed her dad she would be a bit less blasé about it

Well whichever way it goes, Im sure that it isn't the Doctor she kills. It just seems to easy and simple. I think its what we are supposed to think but isn't actually what it is

Maybe it has something to do with the big mistake that Moffatt says Rory's supposed to make in this series.

I think the Doctor is one person she would be "blasé" about it with. She's known and loved the Doctor her entire life; a man who knew her father and not only travelled with him, but saved thousands with him. He was one of her father's best friends.

I'd forgotten that. It could refer to believing Ganger Jen, but that doesn't seem a big enough mistake to make an issue of.

Moffat said that he would make the mistake in episode 7, so it's either something he has done that we missed or didn't realise it was a mistake yet, something that he has done which wasn't that huge of a deal (possibly finding the Ganger Baby), or Moff lied.

Yea I thought it was meant to happen in episode 7. Perhaps its one of those things where we don't realise its a huge mistake until a few episodes down the line, but at the moment it all seems ok, if that makes sense

Yeah that's the way that I'm thinking at the mo - we've had the cause but not the effect and until we see the effect we won't know what he's done.

I think it is going to be Rory. As evidenced with all the baby stuff and the Ganger stuff, Moff wants us to think we are being lead down a certain path when really it is going off in a different direction. With the Doctor dying in the opening episode and River killing the best man she ever knew, I think we are being given two pieces and being told to fit them together, but I think in the end it is going to be a big red herring and we will see Rory get the chop

I am utterly confinced that Rory will be dead by the end of the series. And not 'Rory dead', but 'dead' dead. I think it will be the catalyst to Amy ending her travels and the final death for Rory who we keep seeing coming back from the dead in some form or another.
