This section is way too quiet. So, to get a bit of life into it I ask this... What do you think of the redesign of K-9, used in the Australian series?

I don't watch the show. The only one of the Whoniverse shows I don't watch. The redesigned dog is a big reason why

I understand why they did the redesign. From what I know, there is no mention of Doctor Who in the new series, so from an Australian audience POV, they may not know there is any connection and so a retro 70's looking prop would look really random in a new show.
From a Doctor Who fans POV though I can understand why the design is hated. Personally the retro look is what I love about K9 and I think the redesign makes him look a bit too futuristic and silly. I havent watched the show, but I have seen a clip, and it just doesnt look right.

Which is ironic considering K9 was created in the future

One of the main reasons I'm not tuning in is that I've seen quite a few children shows being farmed out to Australia to film in recent years. It's cheaper and carries less risk, apparently. Personally I think that most of them have failed to achieve what they would have been able to. Lots gets changed, for budget reasons mainly, and the writer isn't able to have a say in how these changes effect the overall feel of their show. Everything from actors to production is taken out of their hands and I know a few that are very unhappy with the results and don't even want the finished product holding their name. The redesign is goddamn awful too

A whole world of 'no'.
Please consign this travesty to the rubbish bin.

The new design is a total and utter travesty. Though we may not have to see too much of it as I heard they are struggling to get a second series.

I would be quite happy to see the end of this if the rumours are true. The redesign is shockingly bad
